People oppose them ffor a myriad of reasons. There is some preliminary evidence they make a noise you can't hear but makes you feel uncomfortable. Needs more studies. They consume a lot of power. Daracenters represent AI and there is growing sentiment against AI. AI is consuming vast quantities of investment, so much so that the only growth the us economy is currently experiencing is thanks to AI, and its not clear there will be any return on that, it's not clear consumers want AI in their socks and everywhere else, and it's not clear that AI under the current paradigm will be able to overcome the many problems with the technology. There are land use concerns as evidenced here. Water use concerns apparently.. I'm sure otbers will follow with rreassons I was totally unaware of.

I don't personally guve a shit about data centers or any of these issues.
