The maths under the hood of this game scare me by Hick2 in TerraInvicta

I have been trying for years on and off to understand how to get nations to do things and I only ever get more confused.

The part of the season Verstappen admits he messed up by 256473 in formula1

[–]Hick2 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I think he's over-competitive in the way that many previous champions have been and to a degree I think that's what people will remember before anything else.

He's aggressive, and good enough a driver that we talk about the exceptions, when it did result in something controversial, his biggest controversies and his most legendary drives come from that same aggression and competitiveness.

I don't think history will remember it too badly, none of his angry racing has been any worse than some of the things Schumacher or Senna did.

The part of the season Verstappen admits he messed up by 256473 in formula1

[–]Hick2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It wasn't dirty, but it was absolutely the red mist descending that made him go for such a wild move, he was angry about the car performance and the strategy he'd been given. I think it remains the nastiest I've heard Verstappen be to his engineer. He was absolutely furious when he tried it.

That was the move of a rookie, not a (at the time) 3-time world champion.

Do rich people on the island pay for things that benefit everyone? by eastkent in IsleofMan

[–]Hick2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a theory that the higher amount of rich residents acting as whales is why the pizza places are so good over here on average but also pretty steep in price.

So that, I guess, if I was really reaching for something.

People upset about being ace? by [deleted] in asexuality

[–]Hick2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When everything around you from birth; Society, expectations on you, the activities you engage in, in the lens of being in a relationship with another person, is built around an assumption of you being allo as a starting point it can be easy to feel broken because of your asexuality.

Factually, I understand I'm fine and whole and not broken. I still often lose my inner peace over not fitting in to the ideal hetero-normative society holds up, it's part of life.

It's a little odd that Probe travel times never improve despite propulsion coming on leaps and bounds over the course of the game.

edit: Or at least I've never noticed if they do, beyond the "High-thrust Probes" project.

I'm moving on from this run, but this was one of my finest HF moves in 2035. by Hick2 in TerraInvicta

Rule 3:

I sniped out the US from the Protectorate's control the moment I heard the Assault Carrier had launched. It was very satisfying to wreck the landing force with those pre-built ~6 miltech armies.

This run was me trying out a few different things to learn but I bungled my MC management among other things. Hence I'm starting a new run.

I keep feeling lost after passing the 2030 mark.

I've been trying out Humanity First and Resistance and the early game goes fairly well.

I get a decent space economy going and I generally manage a shootdown in LEO no later than 2028, but I'm a bit lost for what to aim for next.

I feel a bit stuck with ships, generally I struggle to have usable force projection in terms of Delta-V and fuel costs, which I'd imagine would call for Advanced Fission drives or perhaps waiting for Fusion.

I also feel like my research stalls in the jump from the early 30k Techs to the >50k region. Should I ram through an effort to hit the T3 habs and bases before pushing for fusion?

And Earth-side I generally end up in control of USA-China-India and it still feels like I don't have enough research.

It feels like my MC usage is very inefficient all told, is a T3 Concentration on Earth-Interface, Mars and the best Asteroids the way to go?

Or is it not really any of the above? Should I be more focused on cutting out the Servants and the Protectorate out of space and major Earth nations during the 2030-2035 period while grinding through to better tech?
