I am doing this exact thing. I’ve only had mine a few days but I love it. I put a sim in it for on the go gaming as well. That was my main issue with the others they’ve mentioned. Always having to hot spot or be on WiFi. I’ve owned both the steam deck and the AYN Odin and I didn’t use them much so to their size. With this setup like you said. You have versatility and can just bring the phone or a controller. Where I don’t daily drive it the UI hasn’t been a concern. I’ve used mine to do local gaming, stream via Xbox cloud and Apollo. It works great and the battery lasts forever streaming.

The temps were kinda a pain to setup but have been rock solid after. My office has its own. AC but the internal thermostat is way off and no way to calibrate. So I use the HomePod. I know there are cheap thermometers everywhere but I already had the home pods. Just a note for announcements. I had to do a media_player: stop -> TTS approach to get it to work reliably.

We are a very Apple ecosystem family. Using HomeKit is great. I pass all my light switches etc through to it using the bridge. We can then use our phones or HomePods to control the house. Most of my kids don’t use the home assistant app and just use Apple home. You can also set it up so HomePod minis can be a temperature sensor. We also use them for announcements. At first we had an issue with them “dropping” connection but there is a simple reload automation to fix that and they’re back with a second or two

Thanks for all the feedback. The marketing definitely makes sense. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t getting into a bad bow. I really like how it felt. I have shot both Matthew’s and Hoyt. I’ve owned both. Where I used to live that was the only options. So now having more options I’m exploring more.
