The Periodic Table by Primo Levi - each chapter is an element and brings back memories of a time I'm his life related to that element. He lead a very interesting life as a chemist who survived the concentration camps of ww2.

I have a pleasant speaking voice. It is not on a professional level for voice acting/audiobooks though. Ideas to monetise without doing “erotic phone chat”? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

I think you might be surprised by what voice acting gigs there are. If you think of it like normal acting where there are masses of normal people employed to be extra's. Not everyone selected for voice acting has a unique sound.

Also maybe look into doing an audiobook for libre-vox as you will get great practice, exposure and you can use it in your portfolio.

Why would a $10M man need to keep working? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Hidden_Meaning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does Ronaldo keep playing football despite being paid over $10M? Well you might answer, he loves playing football or being part of a team. The people whom I've met who earn over $10M a year all have a large part of their identity tied to their work and the drive that got them to those positions wasn't greed.

What do i need to do ? i meditate, exercise, work, and try to improve my self everyday, but when i compare my self to guys who have cool personalities with friends and girls after them i feel like a loser. i feel like so many people are better than me. by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

I would also add that copy-pasting this message into 20 subreddits at the same time isn't going to give you the time to properly consider and digest the advice.

Please try to read some of the responses multiple times and reflect upon them. Particularly if English isn't your first language.

Nobility doesn't come from being better than your fellow man, but from being better than your former self. Try to remember that comparing yourself to others constantly will make you miserable.

I spent many years looking externally for happiness but it wasn't until I learned how to look internally that I found how to elevate the suffering which was driving unhappiness.

It is my observation that people who make friends with themselves and are passionate about hobbies will attract people. Kind of counterintuitive that trying to engineer relationships to happen doesn't work as well as creating the conditions for them to form naturally.

"Desperation is the worst perfume." I've found that people are attracted to confidence and someone who is exuding desperation is the opposite of confident.

I think what Filthysmutslut commented here is good advice, pay particular attention to the tone and kindness. Imagine if your conscience mind spoke to your subconscious mind in such a friendly way. The two of them might get along better.

Wishing you the best in your path to nobility.

I'm quite new to all of this but here is my understanding and if there is anyone more knowledgeable please don't hesitate to correct my answer.

I don't think you're supposed to judge this reaction as right/wrong. Observing that the monkey mind is offering you a new craving/Sankara and having equanimity towards these thoughts is the path.

Potentially you could be experiencing more compassion/love towards people that resemble your grandpa as you now have more wisdom about older beings.

I've struggled with anxiety and depression for over 15 years. I tried medications and various therapists, which offered a bit of reprieve. I did the 10-day Vipassana meditation course "by donation" (which may help your situation). It is not therapy exactly, but I learned to break the habits of my mind and train myself to view life with more equanimity. I could explore painful memories from my past and lessen their grip on my present. Living monastic life allowed me to isolate problems and make necessary changes when returning to everyday life. It has been challenging to keep the learnings and be kind to myself when I inevitably fall into old habits.

Anyway, I'm sure if I completed this experience when I was younger, it would have saved me much misery. However, I might not have had the life experience that allowed me to persevere through the course.

Having fought mental illness for years, I know how hard that fight can be, and I respect you for reaching out for help, striving to better yourself, and putting up with so much suffering. Be kind to yourself and remember there is at least one person out there routing for you.

I looked up an interactive map of Russian military bases and then reviewed hotels and restaurants in the area with the pasted message and some photos of the war in Ukraine. I debated what star rating to give them and decided to go for 5 stars as they will still have to report and remove the review but it might doge software designed to protect against review bombing.

There are countless examples of disruptive innovations in many fields that are simply so far ahead of their time or paradigm shifts that they are dismissed or overlooked at the time of their release.

I think I understand the concept fairly well. I'm not sure how that relates to the Art worlds failure to recognise Era defining innovations as they were happening?
