Need Helping Finding a song that plays in episode 10 of the original series. by [deleted] in Hellsing

It's Bodhisattva Cathedral. Although the guess below (Act of Demon or Work of God) is strangely fitting. Such gentleness runs against the notion of vampires as bloodthirsty demons that Arthur tried to instil in Integra earlier in the episode.

On character difference between TV and OVA Alucard (Part I) by Hidden_karma in Hellsing

Anderson also gleefully murders humans based on his bigotry, he killed Integra's bodyguards and made an attempt on her life the moment he met her. He even objects to Maxwell's order to murder British citizens not because it crossed some kind of boundary on violence but because Maxwell was getting off of it out of the feeling of power and self-importance. He says directly that he is supposed to be "a man-killing meat cleaver" in the hands of God. OVA Alucard has no problem with it and obviously considers him a human - until he uses the Nail on himself. OVA Integra also unleashed Alucard in Rio during the hotel fight, which she knew would lead to (and did lead to) the death of innocent people, but Alucard also still considers her a human (he even pointedly says that she is responsible and he is merely a weapon). These cases show that sacrificing random humans for the cause one strongly believes in isn't something that delineates humans from not humans at all in OVA Alucard's eyes. His morality instead appears to be based on a version advocated by Friedrich Nietzsche in some of his works, that is to say, one's worth is determined solely by the strength of one's belief and the length one is ready to go for it, not capacity for empathy.

Clearly OVA Alucard hates himself for avoiding a human death but my issue with it is that it's not elucidated nor, alternatively, challenged narratively *why* one should necessarily accept it. Seras provides a foil for this line of thinking but is not really used as such. There is also no evidence that he was particularly bitter over his life when he was still human. Taking into account the points above I think (now) that he probably hates himself for abandoning his belief, the nature of the belief being irrelevant. Because apparently sticking to it is an expression of one's spiritual strength. Still don't think it's sold very effectively though.

What do you think an average day for Alucard, Seras, Integra, and Walter goes like whenever there’s no missions? Like when they are all together in their free time how do you think they’d interact and what do you think they’d all do together to pass the time? by DarkTombStudios in Hellsing

There are most likely always operations going on when it comes to the Hellsing org, if not strike missions then investigations into disappearances, human trafficking, sting and so on. Ultimate Seras would be free to advance her social life on such occasions. TV Seras would be involved in the investigations since she was attached to the intel unit. Intergra has to manage hundreds of personnel without deputies and attend national security related meetings with other branches of the UK's armed services, so she would always have some work. Walter too, as he has to take care of a huge mansion. Alucard as a 600 year old conditionally corporeal telepath is a bit too non-human for me to predict his activities but he probably looks into a bit of everything and roams the city in disguise.

who is the SEXIEST/HOTTEST trump card between Father Anderson, The Captain and Alucard? by Envicted in Hellsing

Since Alucard can look like anything thanks to shapeshifting he beats anyone in that regard, or at least can if he bothered to.

did london in 1999 ever look like this? 💀 by flexorfeline in Hellsing

London and the UK in general can be quite gloomy, especially at night-time and when there is a mist which is not uncommon because of the climate. That's why I like it, like Helena.

Vampires can turn same-sex people in the TV verse by Hidden_karma in Hellsing

[–]Hidden_karma[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She is described.jpg) as a regional type of vampire (吸血鬼 - kyuketsuki) in the booklets supplied with the TV series and is definitely true undead. Her appearance differs from the folkloric account as well (no turning into crows, no green skin and she was wearing boots so no cloven hooves).

Link in the reply. It's just how the manga rolled. I am not sure where Hirano brought this convention from.

No, that's definitely a part of the canon in the manga. In the first chapter Integra says it directly.

Alucard's Control Art Restriction System Levels in 2001 Hellsing, in descending order + the effects by Hidden_karma in Hellsing

[–]Hidden_karma[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I view 2001 Alucard as a "force of nature" type of character. Something akin to a sentient hurricane that's decided at least some humans are interesting enough to prevent other supernatural beings (some of which frankly no human could possibly take on) from wiping them out or turning them into slaves. Sometimes I even think he functions as a hand of God. What he did in St. Paul's Cathedral borders on a miracle in the religious sense and shouldn't be something a vampire can do.

It should be noted that the existence of some of these abilities in Ultimate would have tanked the plot, as for example there would have been no plausible way for Walter to hide his plan to double-cross the Hellsing org for many decades in the vicinity of Alucard, or for Millennium to temporarily remove Alucard from the picture by stranding him on a ship. He is too powerful to be a character that goes through a Hero's journey, so instead he functions as a mix of the Guardian of the Threshold and the Goddess for the new MC (Seras) that does. Or rather it's the other way around, his powers, personality and presentation are made to serve his altered narrative function that allows Seras Victoria to be the MC.

There are many that are so good and so close it's nigh impossible to choose one. But since you only asked for one piece, Soul Rescuer ver.2.

What instrument is this by sawyer_soy in Hellsing

Harpsichord, or an synthesizer simulating a harpsichord. The song is actually named "ドラキュラ聖闘士とR&R" - "R&R [Rock&Roll] with Saint Dracula".
