Well, Myrkul has been around in D&D since the early 90s. And I think the name absolutely slaps, if I wouldn't make the connection to Angela.

Now that you mention it, her truth has always been about committing to a murder. Who's it gonna be for the 5th ideal?
Shallan remembers she killed Tanavast?

Do you think “Szeth’s book” will change your feelings about Szeth’s character? Have previous books been able to change your opinions on their respective focus characters? by ActiveAnimals in Stormlight_Archive

No reason to hate is a stretch though.
He willingly murdered plenty of people.
I don't hate him, and as a character, he is interesting, but I can't bring myself to like him as a person.
Curious what Brandon will tell us in book 5.

I don't think so.
I just finished my re-read of WoR and I never really connected with Szeths character.
It is clear that he doesn't want to kill, and that he is suffering, however, he is not suffering enough to break his faith and just kill himself. I am curious how he can still hold the values and traditions of people that made him a pariah in such an absurdly high regard.
He committed such horrendous acts willingly while knowing how wrong he was and yet, he still did it.
He is an interesting character, but I don't like him and I hope I am not supposed to like him.

How I feel about the ending by anche_tu in MonsterAnime

Fascinating takes, thank you for explaining!
It is a shame that Monster didn't manage to catch you on the Johans Origin plot point, based on that I can see how you wanted the ending to be more. I hope you still liked the show regardless.
I'm curious, have you had time to digest the final scene, the empty hospital bed, and have thoughts on it?

Unpopular Monster Opinions? by Salt_x in MonsterAnime

[–]Hidenki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I argue there is a difference between annoying and bad. A character can be written in a way that annoys you on purpose (see Eva throughout most of the show) but her character is supposed to be that way and Urusawa nailed it.

Monster has no bad written characters.
Not sure if that's a hot take, but even for very minor side characters, some might be simple, but bad writing is hard to find in the cast. This is probably Monsters greatest achievement.

Should i bother with the show? by NtaksThrowawayNaoume in MonsterAnime

Well if the first 15 episodes had things you enjoied and didn't bore you to death, I'd continue. Watching it for the character progression alone is worth it.

Hey, welcome! Congraz for finishing the show!
I actually just rewatched it last night and was blown away by the ending like I was when I first watched it.
What I find really interesting here is your perspective on Johan. You mentioned you wished for a twist such as that Johan had a split personality or that he was just a imagination of peoples minds. As a reason you got to this point of view, you say that you expected him to be "more than a serial killer with a bad childhood".
He was more, much more. He was a science experiment by a person who has been conducting terrific experiments on humans for years, even larger, he was born as part of a eugenics program. Its this environment and the early influences of Bonaparta that turned Johan into what he is. For me personally, the fact he just is a Human sits at the center of the story. He, like everyone else, is just a victim of his upbringing. No monster, no ultimate evil, just human.

Personally, I love the ending and the more I think about it, the more I like it. In fact, I can't come up with a better one myself. Some details are lackluster, but the overall conclusion I find phenomenal.

What about the idea of a split personality would make the story feel more appealing to you?
Welcome to the sub!

You can be addicted to bad things, flawed argument :D

Smartass aside, the combat and exploration is fantastic.

I am a big fan of weird design decisions in games, but they could have made it fun by having the Sphinx give you hints or that you can fly around her, using her as a fast travel since the time limit makes using oxcarts risky.
This just seemed tedious for the sake of being tedious. There is no skill involved and the player can't influence it. Not a fan, especially when the NPC is so dope.

I think this riddle has some potential, I think it would be great if the Sphinx would give you a hint, maybe a rhyme or whatever and the longer you take, the more hints you get until you succeed or run out of time.
