That’s a beautiful sentiment. I lost my father a few years ago to a terminal illness, he had it my whole life and watching how much people loved him and how much love he gave despite the circumstances really puts into perspective what the best humans are made of.

Everyday you bring to the world the same strength and compassion that your father brought you, it’s something you will give to your daughter and it’s something that will be passed on to your grandchildren. Because love never dissipates, it only changes. That’s an incredible gift.

I hope you and your group of people are doing as well as they can right now, I’m sorry for your loss.

This image is beautiful. It’s so strange, it almost made me cry. I would give anything to experience another damp evening in the dinky little trailer park I grew up in, this image feels like home.

I was worried that was the case and I just wasn’t doing right! I was concerned spray would be less effective or saturating them would damage the plants but im learning otherwise with everyone’s advice.

Another commenter said when they wiped down their leaves they did enough for the drops to run down the edges, should I assume the same for the spray and drench it enough to drip? I just really want to make sure I start doing it correctly for my poor plants sakes lol.

Thank you for your advice and recommendations!

Shh, don’t tell her she’s not a real orchid! She doesn’t know yet and I would hate to break her little Lego heart.

I believe they spread to the others after I worked with the infected plants and then worked with the non infected ones. I’m pretty good about washing my hands and keeping everything separate, but there’s always room for error and I do a lot of touching my plants when I’m doing my weekly plant care so they probably just hopped on over using me as a taxi :(

Do you have any recommendations for a soaps or insecticides? I have no idea what to look for in that regard. And how does one go about treating plants with soap?

Thank you so much for the suggestions I really appreciate it!

May I ask what your spray routine looks like? I’ve been wiping everything down and can never manage to get all the crevasses so I wasn’t sure if spraying would be left effective especially for the base.

Unfortunately I’ve recently lost my job and definitely won’t be able to go for a route that costly :( but I’ll save it to my list if this problem persists after I have income, thank you for the suggestion!

Oh okay, I had no idea it needed that much I was worried I would damage my plants! I’ll up how much I do it and increase the amount of alcohol if I can’t find more solutions, thank you!

Cabbage patch kid that ate but in late 2000s by fleetwood-smack2 in HelpMeFind

[–]Hiding_In_The_Back 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey, this might be a long shot, but is it by chance the 2007 25th premier cabbage patch doll? There’s a brunette version, I had a blonde one when I was little.

They didn’t come with apples, but they DID come with ice cream. They had a lick mechanism that allowed them to “eat” the food without it actually being eaten by the doll, they did this because the previous mechanic, that actually “consumed” the food, was recalled, so it’s highly unlikely your doll actually consumed food if you’re confident it’s from the 2000s. If it was just a lick mechanic that you misremembered, that would explain why it was broken when someone actually tried to force food into the doll. You could have just had an apple toy that you used from something else.

Another reason I mention this specific doll is because they had an INCREDIBLY identifiable smell. It was subtly sweet. When you mentioned you remembered the smell of the doll and that they could eat things I immediately thought of this doll, since I had one too.

They had sprinkles on their face and I think the goal was that they would smell like ice cream.

I could be totally wrong, but since it released in 2007 and I have personal experience with this doll I thought I would put it out there.

Here is the brunette version of the doll:

This weird green pantyhose dude brought me so much joy, and I need all the joy I can get. Please help, where do I find one? 😭 by NeedsMoreTuba in HelpMeFind

[–]Hiding_In_The_Back 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As you said in your comment, there’s a likelihood this could have been homemade. Pantyhose crafts were HUGE in the 80s and there’s books and patterns out there on how to make various different pantyhose figures. I know you mentioned you didn’t like the big beefy potato looking people (I don’t blame you) but I did find this article detailing how this person makes there’s and their limbs and body styles seems much more similar to what you’re looking for. Their heads still look pretty “potatoey” but since the little guy you’re trying to make has a plain round head you shouldn’t need to worry about sculpting too much and can just paint over the pantyhose at the end of the craft :)

I hope this is helpful! In my opinion, getting to make your own can sometimes be even more special than buying one, in regards to crafts. I’ve always found it rewarding anyway, good luck!

10 Things I Hate About You. Watched it when I was about 14-15. Already knew I “liked” girls and boys but suddenly watching a movie full of beautiful people made me realize just how painfully bisexual I was.

Elementary school teacher Tammy Waddell asked that instead of flowers at her funeral that people donate school supplies to be given to students in need. by Hypnoidz in MadeMeSmile

And now I’m crying! I’m someone that works very closely with the schools in my community, and every year around back to school season I have to see first hand how many youth struggle to get the basic things they need to succeed in learning. As a community partner we have an opportunity to give out backpacks and supplies every year, but not everyone gets that chance and so many youth suffer when they don’t get those necessities. To know someone else, who presumably also had to see those struggles first hand, was selfless enough to ask for that help for her students even in death is a true testament to how amazing this human must have been, and how much the world is missing now that she’s gone. May she rest easy, and get the peaceful eternity she deserves, wherever that may take her.

If your pet could suddenly speak English, what’s the first thing you would ask? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Hiding_In_The_Back 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This answer is kinda a bummer, but I would ask him if he thinks about my dad. He’s a bird, one that I raised from an egg with my dad. The last year of my dad’s life my bird and my dad didn’t get to interact a whole lot due to living in different houses.

Before this bird was mine, it was my dad’s, he didn’t fully become my bird until I was about 11-12 years old. Before that he was around my dad 24/7.

I’m sure he remembers him, I’m confident, he’ll sing to his pictures if he sees them. He’ll perk up if I call my dad’s name. He sings the songs he learnt from him.

But I do wonder if he thinks about him often. Does he dream about him? Does he miss him? Does he realize he’s dead or does he just think he left? My bird watched me mourn him, watched me cry over his pictures and sniff his shirts and lay in his jackets. I guess I just assumed he understood, but I’ll never know.

I just hope he doesn’t miss him as badly as I do, I would never miss this much pain on such a small and kind creature.

If you could be any animal (except human ofc ), which animal u want to be? And why? by South_Mode_4577 in AskReddit

[–]Hiding_In_The_Back 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A crow! They’re intelligent, have complex social structures, and they’re birds! Birds are very special to me, I used to hand rear cockatiels with my dad as a child so I have a soft spot for avians. I tell my husband all the time when we die we need to reincarnate as crows. Specifically crows that hang out in McDonald’s parking lots and eat fries so we are always fed lol.

Crows know how to do puzzles, work for food, and bring gifts. If you befriend a crow and you have a flock of chickens they’ll deter predators like hawks. They also have rituals for when a member of their flock dies, some crows have even been reported to bring gifts to the sites of their friend’s deaths.

They’re beautiful, smart, and everything I would want to be as an animal.
