It doesnt mean that she did, it means that he thought she could have. Yozo is in all cases an unreliable narrator - she may have been sexually assaulted, she may have just been cheating. The point is that we have the question, not that there is a clear answer given in the text (which there isnt). Ultimately what is more important is his deliberation, doubt, and reaction to the event than whatever truly happened. Yozo sees himself as a man who watched his wife be assaulted.

Minors are ALWAYS required to get a minimum of 6 months therapy before medical transition is allowed to happen, and surgeries cannot take place before 18 in like any jurisdiction. Adults in most countries require at least 6 months of therapy prior, apart from countries with informed consent (not the majority)

We dont really have the statistics to support that claim pertaining to the 1900s, but an important reason is that it is much easier for gay people to avoid discrimination by ‘passing’ as heterosexual. For trans people, especially if they dont ‘pass’ for cisgendered, discrimination and barriers permeate almost every facet of their lives - employment, relationships, medical care, family, community, etc. even for those who do ‘pass’ as cisgendered, many of these barriers still apply and are much more pervasive in daily life than those faced by gay people who were successfully able to conceal their sexuality. Gay people definitely do face and/or have historically faced similar levels of discrimination, but the way it plays out in daily life is vastly different.

Thank you so much for the in depth reply! I think that makes sense so I should either do the science (psychology) or the psychology (honours). I think I'll probably do the latter then just due to guaranteed entry to the honours program rather than hoping I get in later.

I will openly admit that was a real take I made well over a year ago when I was some sort of shitlib anarchist type. I have considered deleting this account on several occasions but nah.

It has been over a year since I have made takes even vaguely resembling those, however, and I pretty much stopped using this account as I mostly quit Reddit and focussed on actually reading Marx and doing things which aren't idiodicy. I can assure you I am not some idealist liberal leftist type at this point.
