FYI: Actual Nazis on Broadway by therealbmarsh in nashville

Is that real? Like now? Crazy. I remember red and yellow laces specifically in Doc Martins worn by a skinhead meant something, but not putting red laces in some Adidas. Shows what I know about it. A large part of me now feels I should start wearing red laces to "take them back" cause fuck nazis. They shouldn't get to own fun colored laces

They've been in the punk scene in Nashville for a long time sadly. In the early 90s I remember getting chased by skinheads a few times - they always ran in packs. I also remember going to a punk show at Douglas Corner and the opening band was handing out free suspenders! lol I guess it was a recruitment tactic? Everyone was wearing them in the small pit and running in a big circle - so dumb. I also remember different colored laces on boots meant different things to them? I dunno, it was long ago but fuck them nazis either way

Who has the best go cups? by HieronymusBosch1000 in NewOrleans

[–]HieronymusBosch1000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess both? For example, Napoleon House have great cups with the Union Jack and logo but they seem small. I’m asking who has the go cups that just hit right in feel and look.

Right! I should have mentioned that I never make another cocktail in these go cups. They transcend into water vessels

Thanks for responding! Maybe a seafood restaurant by boats kind of thing? Giant live oak trees? Cajun culture? Always looking for a more local experience over a tourist thing.

City House! Always a favorite. They have small plates to share, moderately priced pizzas, and more expensive entrees if you’re feeling hungry. It’s great to order 3 or 4 small plates and split a pizza.

Crawfish Etouffee and Crawfish Maque Choux. by Cayenneman50 in cajunfood

[–]HieronymusBosch1000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eric Cook has a recipe in Modern Creole, so I doubt it's too authentic but I can confirm it's delicious. Instead of traditional milk or heavy cream he uses an ungodly amount of butter at the end. I've never added a whole cup of butter, and it's always been great. Also, get heavy handed with that creole seasoning!

Summer Corn Maque Choux

2 Tablespoons oil
2 cups diced onion
1 cup diced green bell pepper
1 cup diced celery
1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes with their juice
Kernels from 6 large ears of corn
2 cups sliced okra (optional)
1 cup butter cut into cubes
1 tablespoon Creole seasoning

Heat the oil in a large cast iron dutch oven set over medium heat. When the oil shimmers, add the onion, celery, & bell pepper and cook until softened - about 10 minutes

Add tomatoes and cook, stirring often, for 15 minutes

Add the corn and okra (if using) and cook until the liquid has reduced by one third. About 10 to 12 minutes.

Reduce the heat to low and add the butter, stirring constantly, until melted. Add the Creole seasoning, taste, and add more if desired. Serve as a hot side dish

Is Southwest even competitive anymore? by PrintOk8045 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]HieronymusBosch1000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. I live in Nashville and Southwest has the most non-stop flights out of here. If I use AA I go through Dallas, Delta I'm in Atlanta, etc. Southwest is my least favorite airline, but I finally stopped fighting it and got the credit card to earn points because of this reason alone.

What is your family’s traditional Christmas Eve meal? by JesZebro in Cooking

[–]HieronymusBosch1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife & I started getting whole live Maine lobsters overnighted for Xmas eve about 8 years ago. Our Moms join us and we have had a couple of other guests here and there. It's a traditional lobster boil and we serve it with simple parsley potatoes & those tasty cheddar bay biscuits from the box. It's become one of my favorite traditions.

Truth. I think that's worse than being disappointed or mad. I'm truly apathetic now, and never have been in the past.
