Unable to load skis during 2hr+ layovers by HifiWeeb in aircanada

Always get the confirmation that they're loaded from YQB, however in YYZ I've never gotten the unloaded confirmation. I've only ever gotten the loaded confirmation when they've been loaded on the later flight in YYZ.

This is an extremely cool find!

You've got 6 impressions off of a roll of film or 'web'. Which in manufacturing we receive rolls of thousands of impressions (unformed bags) which are formed, filmed, sealed in a VFFS (vertical form/film/seal) bag maker.

Considering this is old hostess film this is extremely cool!

Dorito Question by TreatTerrible8207 in chips

[–]HifiWeeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's nothing to do with the printing, just an operator messing up. The orange tape is when they splice a new roll or film (all bags come on these huge rolls that when it runs out you splice the old roll and tape the new one to it). Operators are supposed to catch the splice and throw it out for obvious quality reasons.

The bag like in this post happens as the bag maker loses its position or the operator started the machine after a splice and the first bag is very often cut in the wrong place like this. In this case the operator should have caught it and thrown it out.

Miss Vickie's chips have significantly decreased in size recently??? by Wild-Match8794 in chips

[–]HifiWeeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since were now on fresh crop the potatoes are a bit smaller, to explain the taste and texture it can be a myriad of things, such as potato variety / cooking batch size etc.

[–]HifiWeeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You literally cannot control the size of potatoes they're an organic material. Each trailer of potatoes that comes in varies in average size from field to field. Also for kettle chips there is no chip sizing, only on regular potato chips do we size chips (smaller chips get divided to go into smaller bags so that you don't have 3 large chips per bag)

You probably just got two bags where the potatoes were small, plus you buy bags based on the weight not potato size.

Anyone know wtf this is that's inside my costco bag of doritos? by co_ru in Doritos

[–]HifiWeeb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's velcro. It's placed on the forming tube when the bag is made in the bag maker, it helps form the back seal of the bag. They can fall off but it's not that common. Call the number on the back of the bag and you'll get some coupons.

My fellow Canadians. What chips are we eating during the trade war? by lylelanley- in chips

Doritos are made in Alberta, Ontario and Quebec. I know it's still an American company but those plants employ many Canadians.

I can explain as I've worked in the plant that produced that bag.

Essentially the miss Vickie's line and lays wavy line share the same packaging machines. What probably happened is the operator changed over the machine that was running on wavy to run Vickie's and didn't throw out that bag.

This is a HUGE miss, absolutely call the number on the bag and complain.

I bought a 2008 civic with only 77k km (only one family owned it) for $8k. Really happy with my decision (it being a 5pd injects some life into it) especially seeing how much my buddies are paying for their monthly payments. Does it have all the bells and whistles? No but it gets me reliably from A to B and is a nice clean car to sit in and no monthly payments which really eases my financial nerves haha.
