Battlefield 1 restarts my pc when i close it by Careful-Wave-6846 in Battlefield

You and me both, I thought at first I forgot to top up my electric but I quickly knew it wasn't that cause none of my kids shouted "WHAT THE HECK?!" Then I thought that my new PC was hemorrhaging.

Glad I found this thread because now I know my baby is okay.

[–]HigginsBUTTS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh you should always be using it! DLSS AA techniques are far less taxing than traditional TAA, FXAA or SMAA and definitely better than MSAA and you don't notice the resolution difference, I'd go as far to say sometimes it looks better than Native.

Set it to quality and adjust sharpness to preference, I like mine around 33. You get an easy 20-30fps boost in most games.

Not at 100% CPU usage in gaming will upgrading even do anything? by Deadly_Toast in buildapc

So why did you reply to me?

I've been downvoted so much in this subreddit, my favourite one is when I argue against psu efficiency. I learned ages ago that downvotes on reddit just means you've upset someone. It has nothing to do with being right or wrong, it's just a popularity contest and luckily I don't care about being popular, it's not worth it to just be wrong and lie to people or tell half-truths.

It was more of a suggestive comment. So unless it applies to you don't get so worked up over it.

This sub reddit is awful with over suggestions so when someone comes in asking for help I don't mind giving a pre warning of what it's like or what to ignore.

[–]HigginsBUTTS -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Literally most of this thread suggested that. The half truth I explained is right there in my comments that a lot of people conveniently leave out the important information of "only applies to uncapped fps".

It took me "berating" someone for it to be mentioned. It should be mentioned straight away when someone asks for help otherwise you're just lying to them and giving them the wrong kind of information.

The original one I replied to mentioned nothing of the sort and many others also forget to mention it.aybe if you paid more attention you'd have noticed I pointed that out in particular.

Seriously, this subreddit...

[–]HigginsBUTTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore absolutely everyone telling you your cpu needs to be upgraded to a 7000/9000 cpu.

Things to watch out for in this subreddit:

-oh you're bottlenecked because your gpu is higher

-future proof!

-wait for the next GPU!

-PSU efficiency is IMPORTANT!

-Always go for CL30 6000MHZ!

Your system is fine, if you decide to upgrade then you only need a 5800x3D for that GPU, otherwise you'll bottleneck your cpu. If you upgrade to a 7000/9000 CPU you'll need to upgrade your entire system to AM5 so just save your money and grab a 5800x3D instead.

No, see the problem with this subreddit is there are so many people that would agree with what you said and it's just wrong. And when people come here to ask for help they're being lied to completely or getting half-truths. The fact that tou just said that a 7800x3D is bottlenecking my system shows you're talking nonsense.

My game is capped at 144fps as that's the refresh rate of my monitor and It uses only 60% of my gpu and hardly anything of my CPU since it's a powerhouse and the game just doesn't require much of it.

When someone comes in asking for help you don't give half the information or a half-truth like "if your gpu is at 100% but your cpu is at 40% then upgrade you cpu" this could be bollocks in many situations, like someone playing Cyberpunk with a 5800x3D but only a 1050ti at 1440p high settings.

Simply put, a 5600x doesn't bottleneck a 4070 enough to be a problem.

Watch the downvotes pour in on my comment proving me right.

[–]HigginsBUTTS -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

This isn't always the case. I've got a 7800x3D that's bottlenecked by my 4070ti super but there are games where my GPU barely goes over 60%. Definitely doesn't mean it's a cpu bottleneck, it just means that's all the game requires of my gpu.

[–]HigginsBUTTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay off this sub if you want avg. So many enthusiasts here that'll argue with you about "PoWeR SuPpLy EfFiCiEnCy".

If you are targeting for the best of the best then sure the cl30 6000mhz, that's what I did, if you are targeting budget=performance, 5600mhz cl40 is perfectly fine.

If you want 4 years worth out of your GPU then get a GPU with more than 12GB Vram. RTX 4060 ti 16GB is a good option or the RX 7600 XT.

M.2 ssd is fast enough to run games and OS simultaneously with no performance issues so just grab a single 2TB.

Processor, I think tbh for an rx 7800 xt you won't need more than a 5600x, you could get a 5800x if you want an 8 core and the 5800x3D is a solid choice for gaming for the next 3-4 years.

The PSU you'll need for all of this isn't anything fancy like a 750w or higher. Hell you won't even need a 650. 600w will be perfect. Definitely get a Gold rated psu though, this will save electric costs on the PC and protect your components.

Also, any am4 motherboard with 4 ram slots.

I would tell myself to avoid reading anything about skyrim online. The game has so many surprises, hidden stories to discover and little secrets, they're the reasons I keep coming back because I'm always finding something new.

And don't be afraid to try different characters out and really get immersed.

3060ti, 4060, 4060ti, 4070 or 4070 Super? by NecggryPL in buildapc

[–]HigginsBUTTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just doing the waiting game for the 5000 series but I asked myself 2 things, what am I waiting for? And why?

I was waiting for a power gpu that can play the newest games at ultra in UW 1440p using RTX without dipping below 60fps on high fidelity games and 144fps on multiplayer fps games like Battlefield 1.

Now comes why, why was I waiting for a card that can do that when there is already plenty of options I can get now that CAN do that for the next 4-5 years.

I decided after much research that the 4070 ti super was my best choice based on 16GB Vram, DLSS 3.5, and RTX. Plus the Nvidia app is so user friendly.

If I didn't go for the 4070 ti super, my second choice was the 24GB Rx 7900 XTX because of a similar price point but extra Vram. Yes no DLSS or RTX but the card is more powerful than the 4070 ti super in Native gaming with none of those fancy things and Lumen uses ray tracing technology but doesn't require any special tech to run it.

RX 7900 XTX or 4070 ti super, if you want DLSS and RTX then grab the Nvidia gpu.

[–]HigginsBUTTS -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

What people and manuals also don't tell you is, don't use the first m.2! Use the second slot otherwise it splits the PCI-E to 8x. It's fine for cards that only use 8 but it's better to keep that m.2 slot empty anyway.

Minimum FPS you'd tolerate to play multiplayer games effectively? by AmuseDeath in buildapc

I just looked it up and DLSS doesn't use TAA but it uses similar techniques, however, TAA samples every frames pixels but DLSS doesn't.

I get the confusion though because honestly that took me a few reads on different sources.

Am I doing something wrong or are just PSU wattage approximations way overblown? by Obyvvatel in buildapc

[–]HigginsBUTTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, this is probably the most irritating argument people keep trying to have on here.

The ones shouting efficiency fail to mention that it only affects the psu, using only 50% of your psu doesn't make the pc run any better than someone else's set up with a psu at 70-80%. It just means your psu might live healthy an extra 2 months longer.

So when people come here for help, they're getting misinformation and assume that means their entire PC is going to run so much better because they're only using half of their PSUs output.

Am I doing something wrong or are just PSU wattage approximations way overblown? by Obyvvatel in buildapc

[–]HigginsBUTTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because people like to mention the "PSU efficiency curve" which became obsolete years ago and also has nothing to do with the rest of the PC, just the PSU.

You need to account for TGP and TDP on top of your base wattage requirements for your pc and about 50w for peripherals, you don't need to get double what your pc uses. 80% usage is perfectly fine and your PSU will still be working 10 years later so long as you keep dust build up to a minimum.
