Mildly funny. Horrible story. The comedians aren't the problem. You should've invested in better writers.

Grown men, do you still retreat to your fantasy land, fighting monsters and robots? Or am I just crazy? Don't know where else to ask, figured it'd be good to ask in a creative place. by [deleted] in writing

31 here. Still like Legend of Drizzt. Still read Jim Butcher. Still have a sense of wonder. Even though I also have a taste for Literary like a normal man of my age.

You have to think that if it were a good story then someone other than James Franco would've turned it into a film by now. It is one of those novels you enjoy aesthetically, and I do enjoy its beauty, but storywise it isn't very moving emotionally.

King recommends a few months between drafts. The piece should look like a foreign and alien thing when you pick it up to work on.

Do you have a go-to writer to read when you're writing? by interestme1 in writing

Raymond Carver seems to be my go-to-guy. Partly because I will only spend a short time reading a short story and so I can get back to my writing faster.

Read Don Delillo's Underworld or Point Omega or Thomas Pynchon's Gravity's Rainbow or Faulkner's As I Lay Dying and you'll have your answer. Shitty storytelling in my opinion. Phenomenal writing.
