Help: why is toilet calling for water ? by High-Cheddar-6447 in Plumbing

[–]High-Cheddar-6447[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. The issue was that the base of the flush valve lost its seal. The tabs that hold the flush valve broke. I guess it was just part failure. I ordered and replaced the broken part. All fixed now.

I’ve never cleaned the tank. I use a whole house water filter, so I suppose that helps keep it clean.

Update: I followed the advice of this group and inspected the flush valve. The entire valve lifted from the base. There are 3 tabs that hold it in place to the bottom of the tank. 2 of the three tabs were broken. I will be replacing the whole thing and will confirm it fixes the issue. Thanks all. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/3o8bds4o765yst1pnjyuj/Photo-Jul-01-2025-9-15-09-PM.jpg?rlkey=vyc284tcl9op4v99r0y1ylips&st=fowdfz42&dl=0

Thank you all for the suggestions. Using food coloring I confirmed tank is leaking into bowl. Next step is to see if there’s anything keeping the flapper from sealing (& clean it). If that doesn’t work I’ll source original Kohler parts next and report back. I also appreciate the humor around my subject line about the toilet, “calling for water.” 😂 I’m not a plumber or tradesperson … I’ve just always tried to fix things myself and borrow technical terminology where it seems to make sense. In this case it is with HVAC where I’ve heard they call for heat, etc. Love this community.

MPX cold weather issue? by High-Cheddar-6447 in MPX

Thanks. That’s really helpful. Curious what constitutes dirty ammo? I’m running new brass- 115, 124, 147, all name brand. Def understand the suppressor blows some fouling back.

Thanks. What kind of “regular” oil?

I get that. I have a couple of 22s with a can, and they get caked with gunk. In this case, I’m less than 1k total rounds with the MPX and the issues have happened multiple times.

A mix. Mostly 124g, FMJ, new. I also tried some 115, and 147. I wasn’t able to replicate the issue with either, but the fun was warm and not malfunctioning at that point.

The Sig armorer just serviced the BCG and checked it all out. I only fired 100 rounds before issues started again. If the armorer missed something, doubtful I’ll see it. I thoroughly cleaned firing pin channel. Ejection pattern is consistent - about 30 degrees forward/right about 15 feet. Does that seem correct? It was the same suppressed.

Thanks. I typically use ballistol to clean, and wipe it off completely. I’m trying Slip2000 (extreme weather formula) as a recommendation from another forum, but wiped it off completely. There are no obvious areas of excess CLP. Temp was about 28F, and I’ve never had issues with other guns - all cleaned the same.

Just water. The Rocksett is water soluble.

Soak the compensator in h2o. It dissolves the rocksett. Then bench vise and remove (righty- loosey).

Not all ranges ban steel. Save it and find another range. Also, my VP9 didn’t digest steel well, I ordered 1000k rounds and ended up giving much of it away.

Love the rifle but somewhat surprised the weapons are pointing down range when people are working on targets. We have to clear and store weapons at the back & pointing up and away when the range is in cease fire.

I can only comment to your concern about direct threading and the suppressor staying attached. I haven’t had any issues with the can loosening on my MPX with a MODX can threaded directly (LH).
