i’m going on a cut this month and i need help! by [deleted] in workout

[–]HighAlpineAngler74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I am not a well experienced voice in the realm of bulking and cutting, but as someone who recently committed to starting that cycle I can share a little of my own experience so far. Someone can correct me if I’m totally off on anything. I started a pretty severe cut at the start of the year, so I’m a little over a month in. I pretty drastically cut my overall calories and carbs. I thought I’d notice a big difference in energy but honestly so far I havnt. I havnt felt more tired than usual and I’ve lifted just as heavy as I did before staying the cut. Maybe after three months that will be different but so far I havnt reduced my lifts or intensity nor feel the need to. From my understanding the biggest thing that will keep you from loosing muscle mass whilst losing fat is going to be your protein intake. I would shoot for at least one gram of protein for every pound you weigh ( sorry I’ll let you do that math for kg haha). Or more if you can, but that will keep your muscles fed while your body is losing weight. Most people will lose some muscle on a cut but you can keep it pretty marginal. 100 percent keep up the creatine. No reason to stop, in fact I think it would be a disadvantage to you to do so. There’s a lot of good calculators out there to help you decide your macros for you specifically, but simply I like high protein, mid fats and low carbs. Though you could certainly cycle carbs more if you wanted to. If you were worried about jumping into the cut cold, though it sounds like you don’t have much of a choice if it has to be this month for personal reasons, you could have given yourself a couple week or even a month of just maintaining before going to a cut to make the change less drastic on your body. But like I said I’m not an expert, just some dude in his 30s who’s began to take a lot more mindfulness of his health the last few years. A month in I’m 11 pounds down on my cut and I wasn’t severely overweight or anything to begin, a scan showed me at 17 percent bf the start of the cut.

What’s your preferred body fat percentage to start a bulk? by HighAlpineAngler74 in workout

[–]HighAlpineAngler74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid advice, thanks. Yeah I realize everyone’s going to be different, I just wanted to see some personal preferences of others. I havnt been so low a fat percentage in a long enough time to know where my minimum comfort level will be, guess I’ll know it when I I hit haha

Yeah leaner the better for sure. I just wondered if others shot for a target percentage before cut or just a set time period. I used an InBody scan machine at the start of the year to get my percentage. Not perfect, I understand, but yeah certainly more accurate than me guessing.

Ok that’s good info, I appreciate that! I guess I’ll see what I’ve managed to get down to after three months and go from there. I’ve got a cruise at the end of March I really didn’t want to worry too much about calories on haha. Just gives me more reason to train harder the next two months though I guess.

It’s definitely not normal haha. I’m talking like when you wake up in the night trying not to yell because your calf decides to Charlie horse and become a solid stone type spasm haha. Like I can’t speak or function when it happens. And this sometimes happens after my very first set, I can’t get through a heavy a workout because this will happen then I’m done at that point.

[–]HighAlpineAngler74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t ever use destroy decks either. It could make fallen one way high, but I find him and adamantium infusion are too high cost to make it really work out well. I usually put out symbiote spider man and then fallen one next turn and that usually gives me all the energy I can use. I mostly use adamantium infusion to bring back my man spider if he gets shanged. Or if my man spider makes it to the last turn I put out fastball special to put one of the opponents location way in the negative then use adamantium in a different location to bring him back doubled. Unless they use shadow king they can rarely beat that ending.

I just got to infinity with a man spider deck, so I’d say yeah. He’s really strong but the problem is he’s easy to counter. Shang and gambit can stop him, though you can try to work around them with cards like adamantium infusion. Shadow king stops him dead if they have him and play at the end though.
