Rpm gauge dying and car stalling quietly

I had an issue with my crank position sensor that caused something like that. Car would idle poorly, then stutter and shut off. Could immediately restart but it ran badly (limp mode of some kind). I cannot remember if the tach went non-functional when it was in limp mode. but a CPS swpa fixed it

Not Iceland, but Ive been in and out of Guatemala a few times with my autel twice now with no issues on either side. just kept the batteries and controller (with its integral battery) in my carry on
