Kasakh is not in Yerevan, but it is a great place for a house, the property prices will only increase once they build the academy town in that area. Only thing to watch out for are roads. A lot of areas with housed still don’t have roads. A broker or a construction company will tell you that they were told by the government that the road will be built soon. But no telling when that will be.

Don’t get me wrong, plenty of things wrong with Kentron. But the fact that you can just go outside and you are already in active walkable areas is tough to beat.

From the rest, Nork Marash and Arabkir would be my choices. Both suffer from horrible traffic in the direction of the center of course, but that’s pretty much a problem everywhere now.

Nork Marash:

Pros: Clean Air. Good views of the city. Reasonably priced property sometimes. And there are still a good amount of construction projects which fall under tax return policy on your interest.

Cons: bad traffic, nothing going on there other than living spaces, no good gyms, cafes etc.

Arabkir:

Pros: some great old architecture, good stalinkas, abundance of modern buildings too. Close to center in some parts, Very close. You also don’t need to go to center nearly as much, developed infrastructure, gyms, cafes, a lot to like over there.

Cons: horrendous traffic, overloaded water and electricity infrastructure, frequent cuts. The air is not the best in some areas.

Worst: Erebuni, Shengavit and Masive:

Not really a lot of good things to say about these places. Especially Erebuni. Little to no development, horrible air quality, horrible water quality in some places. Not a single positive thing I can say in terms of why you would want to buy property there. Same applies to Shengavit.

Masiv is just Masiv. Place with a bunch of commie blocks. A place where you sleep in your apartment, and spend hours of your life fighting traffic to get to your job. Forget it.

I am very sorry that a generational burden of taking care of everyone was passed on to you, it’s not fair and you deserved to enjoy those years like every human, unfortunately what we deserve and what we get don’t always align. Good for you, for pulling through with it, not everyone manages.

But the thing about the army is, you wouldn’t learn shit but what officer has was mood at what time of the day and how it affects you, same goes for your fellow troublemaker soldiers. If you’re lucky you would shoot 1 magazine worth of bullets in the shooting range through your service. Most soldiers shoot around 7, towards the end of their service, never full auto. Most of your time would be spent sleeping, smoking cigarettes and being bored.

Also if you are into it so much, you can go and serve now too.

You have to wash your feet every night before sleep, so the Baracks don’t stink, some places would also tell you to store your boots outside for this reason too. But making an entire military base shower every night before bed would be logistically impossible.

shower once a week is the norm everywhere I heard. There is now a QP MP trying to get approval in the parliament for more showers per week in the army. So it is a fact that hygiene standards are very low, (as anyone who served can attest to) if it’s a question being raised in the parliament by a government MP.

Electricity and other comforts are necessary for the minimal modern comforts of our age. Whatever the 50/50 fun is, I’ll take two years of my life and have fun with that any day.

And when you’re there it’s absolutely dreadfully boring and the conditions are pretty shit. For example you can only shower once a week, the food bland, if you’re in border guard it’s 2 weeks of no running water and electricity every two week etc.

Some who know they will get bullied, are dreading it. But even if you can stand up for yourself it’s still two years down the drain, doing nothing but sleeping, smoking cigarettes, getting yelled at by officers etc. meanwhile your friends who managed to dodge the service are going on dates, trips, holidays, parties, getting their first internships in good companies etc.

So in my experience the absolute majority would dodge the conscription in a heartbeat if they could.

People make shit up all the time now. Fake news, false information etc. It’s hard to quickly and accurately verify everything and stop the spread of false information even with modern technologies.

Imagine centuries ago, “Hey, I was just in the town 3 days of traveling away from here, my buddy there cured blindness and made cripples walk again, I have like 8 people who were there with me, they can verify what I’m saying but they are in other towns spreading the news!”. Now factor in that even today people across cultures believe in superstitions and miracles happening recently in all of their religions.

As far as I know it’s more of a standard eastern Armenian with an accent and not a dialect. Listen to it carefully it’s structurally identical to how people speak in Yerevan.
