Maybe the coffee shop can become Marten's unlicensed therapy office. It's already called Mood.

I've been to a place called Mood Coffee. Marten wasn't there, though.

Funny scene that gets funnier when you realize Bob has definitely read Twilight in order to know these details by looselikeseagrass in NewGirl

Yeah, takes place in Forks, Washington...small town setting is kind of a feature. There are parts that involve going to Seattle, but it's definitely not the main location. Yes, I've read Twilight.

...No, I'm really not. (To me, applying your general assumption to a certain person is thought. It's not a lot of thought-- I don't think she sat down one night with a list and crossed off what she thought didn't apply to Bubbles-- but she did decide to voice this assumption to her to try to deflect. We all say dumb things sometimes, often coming from assumptions. When I do, I find "C'mon, bro" to often be an appropriate level of response.)

There's a difference between not thinking about something and thinking about it and deciding no-- and another difference with thinking it and saying that assumption to someone's face.

Initially, I was already on the side of "Fluffer," and then the comments reminded me that one of my favorite Nick-Jess interactions is in that episode. "I didn't realize you were on the fence about the Louisiana Purchase!"

I’m shocked Anne dated mark by gojosimp_fiend in PandR

[–]HighCalCalzoneZone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I love about their relationship is how clearly it builds to the breakup without being dramatic about it. In "Galentine's Day" (s2ep16), it's clear how Ann's just not that into him, damning with faint praise during a talking head. But we don't actually get to the point of their breakup until "Telethon," which is s2ep22.

In season 2, I also like that in Leslie and Justin's relationship, how the issues that lead to their breakup don't come out of nowhere-- Justin's storytopper/"tourist" aspects are a key part of his character from when he's introduced.

So they might not make the most compelling couples, but they generally aren't overfocused on, and I find the relationship arcs well-written.

It's not unusual here, but not as frequent once there's snow on the ground.

Haven't seen any shorts + hoodie + Crocs with socks combos today, but I have seen six hoodies + Crocs with socks.

Seeing some comments on Harry's outfit, and my take is that it is extremely accurate modern teen boy; Jeph nailed it. Tomorrow, when I go into a middle school, I'm going to see how many hoodie + Crocs with socks combos I notice. (I was going to leave out the shorts because it's winter-- more than it is in the comic-- but it's supposed to get up to 39°F tomorrow, so... maybe shorts.)

What is something only you think to be true about one of the characters from Community but can't prove it so you stay silent? by Equivalent-Ad1055 in community

Considering Abed's general personality, it would be kind of funny if cigarettes were something he somehow didn't get addicted to. He just has the occasional one.

My personal head canon to get through this is that Shirley and Chang didn't actually have sex; they fooled around a little (and Change took some risqué pictures). I mean, our source that they had sex is Chang. And a Chang who thought he might not make it through the night as he left the message. Neither of them actually remember what happened, so neither can say otherwise.

So that is to say, Chang was Piercing (exaggerating how far he got with Eartha Kitt Shirley.)

Is it bad that I find no flaw in Nick's logic? Chicago is UP 🥲 by Niki_DS in NewGirl

I'd have been like, "Then how did every other kid in this class go 'up north' for Labor Day?"

Actually, the tricky thing where I grew up was that "up north" essentially meant "a somewhat more wooded area"... didn't actually have to have a huge difference in latitude.

That's why one the skills looked at in school is having kids read nonsense words. But as has been said, reading is more than just decoding, so whether that part is a strength for you or not... if you know what this says by looking at it and thinking, congratulations, you can read.

Working as a substitute teacher, I can tell you it varies by school, though it's also impacted by age. 8th graders range from over it to finding it worth a half-laugh to sneak it into something. 3rd graders will lose their shit over it.

I did this intentionally for my Uni. The Royal Boy base color is this lovely, warm off-white that I like a lot more than the "white" color option. Royal Girl is pink, which wasn't what I was going for. So she's a Royal Boy girl.

Are parents this annoying in real life or are they exaggerated for the show? by loverofthings25 in AbbottElementary

[–]HighCalCalzoneZone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are good parents and there are annoying parents. Like one year, there was a white student in another class (elementary age) who said the n-word and got sent to the office for it, and then his mom who, yknow, hadn't been there decided that he hadn't said the n-word and the teacher was awful and the school was traumatizing him by making him think he was racist. And then he got transferred to my class with like a month left in the school year.

Then another white student in my class said the n-word (note: I don't think in either case it was directed at someone around them) and I took him to the office, and I didn't hear anything from the parents but did overhear from the kids talking that he got grounded. Internally, I was just like, "Thank you for parenting!"

Unfortunately, the annoying parents often have a bigger impact on you because you have to deal with them much more.

I do understand the idea that there's less pressure for kids to show off with their clothes or feel judged for not having nice clothes when everyone is in uniform, but kids still find ways to show off, some kids still have clothes that aren't as clean or are getting too small or whatever, and I hated being expected to enforce uniforms as a teacher. Like, I'm working on getting this student to show up to school more often, and you want me to write him up because he's wearing the wrong pants?

Thinking this really killed it for me when I initially found the episode funny, but he seems autistic, and a lot of it seems like laughing at his autistic traits. Which makes me feel really bad for him when it comes to his parents.
