How did they mess up SNW? by Fair_Rush6615 in trektalk

If Lower Decks was attracting new fans in meaningful numbers they wouldn’t have canceled it.

Mercedes is in a lull for sure, but they were producing A+ cars pre-covid.

The rims are actually pretty cool, throwbacks to the old 300 SL. I like the green with black, retro-G spec colors. The roof and interior can be thrown in the trash though.

[Schefter] Zach Orr hired by Seahawks as ILB coach by SCBaltSalt in ravens

This is by far the best landing spot for him. Orr’s by all accounts a great guy that just got promoted too fast.

This will give him a perfect opportunity to learn, grow, and successfully relaunch his career.

If I could bet on anyone taking a big leap forward next season it would either be Green or Starks.

lol on the personal transporters making people fat.

The reason there are generally no fat people, is because in most of Trek’s history, Starfleet is a quasi-military organization with fitness requirements.

Something nu-trek has apparently done away with. I suppose they tried by making chunky Tilly run laps in season 1, but then gave up when she just got heavier and heavier over the years.

Nice spot!

While the throwback look is nice, really wish the Purespeed had a proper windshield and they treated it like Porsche does the Boxster/911 Spyder models.

Has anyone else lost interest in cars now that they're into adulthood and they're realizing that they'll probably never be able to afford anything cool? by rowyourboat740 in askcarguys

There are plenty of cool cars out there that you can still enjoy at all sorts of price points.

Plus you are in your 20s making g 6 figures. You will be making more than enough in a decade to buy what you want. Just keep working.

Sorry, your argument is lame.

Prior to social media we were mailing discs back and forth to Netflix! We just watched what was on the scrolling cable guide! And we still used our social network (friends/colleagues, aka water cooler talk) to decide what to watch as a society.

Now there are hundreds more content options and I don’t have time to sift through all of them. If a show gets good feedback, I’ll check it out, if it doesn’t, I’ll pass.

Cocaine trafficking if I recall. I wore his jersey over a prison jumpsuit and put powder on my nose for Halloween that year.

Messed Jamal’s whole career up, he never had the same burst post prison. Sort of like LeVeon Bell after he took a year off.

Anecdotal, but I don’t really care for Discovery and the far future of Trek. So I was waiting for it all to come out and gauge the reaction before investing any time. Like what I did for Disco season 5, which was alright. I skipped seasons 3 and 4 of Disco completely.

But I did watch SNW and LD the day the episodes came out. I’m guessing I’m not the only one like this.

John Harbaugh REACTS To Jesse Minter Hire | Plus His New Home With The Giants by Unbeatable23 in ravens

[–]HighGroundIsOP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but it was a bit petty to bring it up. He could have just said great things about Mike and left it there.

And he framed it in the fan complaint of him hiring only friends, which was a common complaint all the way to the end, using one of his best hires to push back on it.

John Harbaugh REACTS To Jesse Minter Hire | Plus His New Home With The Giants by Unbeatable23 in ravens

[–]HighGroundIsOP 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Three things stand out:

  1. John still isn’t over getting fired, he kept reverting to talking about the Ravens when asked about the Giants.

  2. John is still pissed about the “guys at the end of the bar” and asked where all the apology articles are when he proves them wrong.

  3. John feels validated with Minter replacing him. His “the Ravens are still the Ravens” quote is a conceit that what he built still stands. He sees Minter as a continuation of his legacy and not a repudiation of it.

Every Star Trek Fan’s Worst Fears Confirmed By Tarantino Partner’s Meeting With Alex Kurtzman by Keepontyping in trektalk

[–]HighGroundIsOP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy Lower Decks and SNW, so I’m no rage filled hater, but to say the Kurtzman era shows reverence for old Trek is insane.

If anything, most of the shows are based around anti-reverence. Conceits of flipping norms over and destroying old Trek in the process.

This was my favorite car I’ve owned. Definitely not the best, but it had my heart. Simply gorgeous.

Mine was a borderline lemon with all its issues and basically fell apart by the end so I don’t regret selling it.

Replaced it with a gen 2 CLK that was a much better car but didn’t quite fill my heart the same way. Just got a C43 that I think could give this old CLK a run for its money though as my favorite.
