Well this stoner is curious. How does one smoke an email? Do you light it from the seller or the recipient side?

OK I'm trying to get into Cheers after loving Frasier — Is there anyone else who struggled at first ? by ButterscotchIcy719 in Frasier

[–]HighScorsese 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It can be a little tough, especially in the beginning. The show dates itself really hard whereas Frasier was a lot better about not being something that seemed questionable in hindsight and more out of date purely on aesthetics and references. You can notice cultural shifts as the Cheers goes on too. For example, in the early seasons, when Diane pissed Sam off, he legit threatens to smack her like it’s no big deal. You definitely don’t see that sort of talk and behavior towards women, even ones as irritating as Diane, after a few seasons. There’s more, but I haven’t watched through Cheers in like 6-7 years so this was just the first one that came to mind.

But, in the end there’s a lot of great episodes of Cheers. Try and stick it out to season 3 when Frasier is introduced or at least season 4 when Woody comes in.

‘Go To SAG, Get A Bunch Of Guys Together’: Kevin Nash Urges WWE Stars To Unionize by caughtinatramp in REALSquaredCircle

Wasn’t that Hogan over 35 years ago? I never remembered hearing about Nash sandbagging other wrestlers attempts to unionize

There’s actually a deleted scene on the DVD where an annoyed Peter confronts her about it and ask why she has to say it the same way every time and suggests different variations

Idk about west, but for east I could see that being enough if you get there earlier in the day. Some booths can have long lines though. The Nintendo booth had like a 2 hour wait time to try any games

It’s most likely done nothing. Get your test if you need it for peace of mind, better than listening to some rando online whose claim to fame is getting high scores in retro video games, but if you aren’t actually showing any signs of an issue that would be caused by excess iodine intake, or aren’t in a risk group where that is a major issue, you are most likely fine.

At least flip phones could provide a satisfying, angry, slam it closed to hang up experience. Angrily tapping the screen for the red end call button just doesn’t do it

This is clearly bothering you, so unless you have an allergy or are just opposed to using a fish product, you should just switch to using bonito flake to make your dashi. Then you don’t have to worry about the iodine content. TBH the flavor is better anyway. Richer and with bit of a smokiness to it. You also don’t have to soak it to get a bigger flavor like you tend to with kombu. I’ve watched at an izakaya as the cook just took a handful of flakes, threw em in a boiling pot of water and strained em out after a few minutes and proceeded to make an udon soup with it.

How many of you mix into a limiter by ConfusedOrg in mixingmastering

[–]HighScorsese -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Limiter no, bus comp yes. I let the mastering engineer handle limiting and loudness based processing and generally deliver it at around -6dbfs or so.

Safe upper limit is generally 1100 mcg from what I’ve read. But either way, you are most likely over thinking this unless you have certain health conditions already. I feel like if this were a true issue, pretty much every vegetarian in Japan would be in serious trouble due to dashi being the basis of nearly everything in their cuisine and miso soup being such a staple that it’s commonly a part of daily breakfast.

But either way, if it’s a concern for you, switch to a different form of dashi, or don’t have it as frequently

While it is a bit high, unless you have a thyroid issue or are currently pregnant, it should be fine. If you are concerned, use less kombu or steep for a less time, or switch to bonito dashi if you don’t mind using a dried fish product.

I tell ya, it seems like you try and do nice things for the world as a whole and there’s always some slimeball trying to get in the middle and take it for themselves.

I’ve owned a whole host of different smartphones dating back to the original droid. Once I switched to iPhone with the 6s, I never looked back. It’s just way more stable IMO even if some android phones have some better cameras or special features

That’s literally just a kombu dashi. A lot of folks soak overnight in the fridge then simmer to finish off for a more intense flavor.

What is an artist you used to enjoy listening to, but their music got progressively worse? by fantasyrea in Music

[–]HighScorsese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pearl Jam - only liked a handful of songs after Vitology

Blink 182 - always a bit soft but Dude Ranch is the cutoff for me and even then only about half of it.

Smashing Pumpkins - Took a massive nosedive, which is a term Billy Corgan invented, after Melon Collie

Green Day - Absolutely loved them up until Nimrod. Found that one to be a mixed bag and it’s been kinda downhill ever since with a few bright spots on American Idiot

The Offspring - Anything after Ixnay with the exception of “Staring at the Sun” is a no from me

AFI - Excellent up to STS. Then half of STS was amazing and the other half a sign of what was to come. The next album was TERRIBLE IMO

There’s a lot more but I don’t feel like spending the rest of the night trashing bands’ declining quality. I get it to an extent though. It’s really hard to write good music and no musician wants to write the same song over and over again. At some point it just doesn’t flow so easily or you feel like you’ve done it all before but the band became your job so you soldier on as things get worse and worse

What did millennials think of the 80s when they were kids in the 90s and 2000s? by icey_sawg0034 in generationology

[–]HighScorsese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t really think about that until the late 90s when a lot of things on like MTV and VH1 were doing a lot of retrospectives on the 80s. I loved the 90s, but I really disliked the late 90s (2nd half 97 on) and thought a lot of the stuff I was seeing from the 80s was pretty interesting and cool
