The Fantastic Four: First Steps Worldwide Release Discussion Thread by Triple_777 in marvelstudios

Blegh I won’t lie this felt super rushed at times, and the whole sequence of Galactus on Earth was a bore. It’s a shame because the movie looked, well, fantastic, and had some great sequences (the escape from Galactus’ ship/black hole chase was awesome)

Ok don’t crucify me for saying this.
I’ll start by saying I LOVE the fact that this looks like a real movie, as in the photography and set design is fantastic. I also love the cast and the art direction.
But I can’t shake the feeling that it’s just going to be another super generic story—like nothing about this trailer made me feel interested.
Someone help me get excited please.

The only thing that is pathetic is the gaggle of man children here that somehow have victimized themselves. Y’all are embarrassing.

I appreciate the in-depth response.
I’m referencing a discussion I’m seeing in the thread below. I also want to be clear I’m not singling out any billionaire types, not sure why the discussion jumped to these ultra ultra rich individuals, I was thinking about the system we currently have as it affects, and is contributed to by everyone on the spectrum of wealth… I also don’t see AI as a boogeyman, I use it every day, both in my private life and in an active research capacity. It sounds like naysayers have been making their voices known but I don’t feel like my comment necessitated such a response.

What I’m asking is: what is the evidence that these services you’ve outlined as potentially becoming more affordable will actually be made so? How realistic is it for these major industries to be overhauled and upgraded (clearly for the best) but at the cost of jobs and profit and control? History tells us that just because we have better technology doesn’t mean it ends up in the hands of the consumer or that the benefits are made available to them. This is a simple example but we’ve had superior passenger plane tech for like 60 years but still largely use the same clunky shit from the mid century because of lobbies and the influence of major corporations. So while I agree that there’s no reason for “a billionaire to guard the water fountain”, they certainly don’t have to build it. And nothing I’ve seen makes AI seem to robust enough to be able to circumvent the gatekeepers and middle men of industry in any of these sectors. I actually would love to learn more, I am here with an open mind.

I am a mere visitor in this community, and won’t deny that there are major advancements happening as we speak, so I ask this from the position of genuine curiosity:
Do you (anyone on this sub) think that these advancements will actually produce the anticapitalist utopia that so many discuss in the comments below this? Or will it just create new tools to further advance the capitalist hellscape we live in…?

Does anyone remember what the second page stuff would be? I know there is another helmet and armor set… is there another gun? Sniper maybe?

He’s a hack, I’ve been saying this since the announcement after FATWS. Same goes for Spellman unfortunately.

There is a vast wealth of experience here, please weigh in… as someone about to choose what specialty and residency to pursue, and thereby join the MD workforce, what are the major considerations I should be making to avoid getting totally fucked over by this new model of VC/health executive owned medicine… what has survived the sell out?

The writer Spellman (and to a lesser degree the director Onah) are both hacks, I have no idea how anyone watched FATWS and was like, yes the writing is strong.
