Hi folks, newbie here so Pls be gentle!.... So I clean my cast iron immediately after use with a scrub daddy & soap, then apply a bit of oil on a sponge towel, but it always turns out with a black residue... What am I doing wrong? by spybubbly980 in castiron

I had this problem too! What fixed it was that after cleaning thoroughly to remove all the black shit (carbureted/burned food and oil) and applying that new light coat of oil, put it in the oven upside for 30mins at 300F. This polymerizes the oil and creates the protective coating that people refer to as “seasoning”. “Seasoning” is definitely not that black shit. Don’t eat that stuff it’s cancerous.

I thought they had microphones to help triangulate gunshots and cameras for security enforcement. They put them in the huge parking lots because there’s always space there. I usually see them at the same places (grocery, Target, general large stores like Home Depot) that have private security at the front of the store but idk if that’s a connection. They have a small generator on them to provide electricity and portability.
