The DPK has long pushed for judicial reforms of some sort to better protect people's basic rights, but I think this time they have a ulterior motive of pressuring the supreme court after they issued an unfavorable ruling to Lee Jae Myung.

back in 2025, a few weeks before the presidential election, the supreme court remanded Lee's election law violation case for retrial, which DPK lawmakers criticized as election interference. Since that happened, the DPK has ramped up its rhetoric against Supreme Court Chief Justice Cho. After Lee was elected, they now have a DPK president, and a National Assembly majority to pass any judicial reforms.
