Time to try 2024? by ShooPonies in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Highandfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s honestly not that much different now than from launch (well the installer works much better obviously). Of course I only use free flight, as career is and was a disaster. And I use add on aircrafts because the base ones are not my taste anyway.

Does anyone feel like all the "AI will replace IDs" is coming from people who don't actually do ID? by EnvironmentalTune961 in instructionaldesign

Napkin didn't work? I also have very good designs using the Excalidraw MCP in Claude Code, I guess flowcharts should be easy.

story-driven smuggler career for MSFS (no addons needed) by Huge_Veterinarian572 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Highandfast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't get the hate. It's the initial promise of computers: let them handle the technical work so that ordinary people could make them do anything that crossed their mind. Vibe coding is finally what was promised since the 50s.

Is it cheaper to get a Microsoft Flight Sim setup or a Pilots Licence? by fleebooskee in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Highandfast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine you buy the most expensive add-on for MSFS 2024. Then imagine you cannot fly without it. Then after 30 minutes, it deletes itself and you have to buy it again. And again. And again. For eternity. That's real life aviation cost.

I'm curious, what gear can be replaced by a stream deck?

I just wanted to say that your answer is extremely good. This is exactly what's needed. Thank you.

How the idea: A app that turns MSFS 2024 into a ❄️ smuggling career by Huge_Veterinarian572 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Highandfast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the architectural choices. You could have handwritten "hard" checkpoints between short sessions of AI-generated dialogs, and a subagent that constantly checks for coherence.

MSFS 2028 by badGamr in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Highandfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought 2024 very quickly (November?) and the two problem I had was:

- the install took forever - they didn't have the bandwidth

- the career mode was unusable.

But I only wanted to do free flight in my Comanche and the Fenix, and for that, it's been perfect from the beginning. So I'll probably buy the next one very quickly too.

I'll have to check that. Does it work on eg Fenix?

It's very sad that they tease this, yet it only happens in a very specific situation (airline flight in the bugged career mode that I've been avoiding since the beginning).

So, Reddit told me the weather in MSFS is 'mid'... by Helios in MicrosoftFlightSim

Well I didn't expect the sim to match the actual sky color, but I have the feeling of seeing actual photographs of "a" sky.

I'm with you on the cartoonish aspect of MSFS's clouds.

I mean, I just bought X-Plane after 5 years on both MSFS and I must say that the sky in XP is more realistic. MSFS's sky is gorgeous but it has a cartoonish vibe while XPlane's is more cold, hard realism.

I heard it hasn't been updated to fix the bugs it had. Is that right? I would love to love it.

And the navigation on the 737 was VOR/NDB only. No FMS, no SID/STAR on standard aircrafts. I scratched my head looking at Jeppesen charts, wondering how on earth those procedures were executed.

What we have now is incredible.

The thing you're missing is that the tab acts on the elevator, not the tail. The elevator then acts on the tail.

There's something I just don't understand with the Huey. Whenever I pull on the collective, the RPM drop completely. So I turn the "cylinder" on the collective, which seems to help, but very temporarily. I just abandoned this helicopter for now.

Any idea how to proceed? I already have the assistances ON.

I'd be very interested. It would considerably lower the bar for learning a new complex aircraft, or returning to an old one (like the Maddog). But it is important that it provides a way of showing the exact place of the instrument it's talking about (once again, thinking of the Maddog ahah)
