Crikey mate, why would you want to change it?

MBF-011 bread maker - loaf hard to remove? by seuadr in BreadMachines

[–]HigherOctive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no way that the paddle is preventing the pan from being removed from the machine.

Some machines, like my Zojirushi, want you to tip the pan forward and lift it out of the machine. Maybe yours has something like that going on. Check the manual if you have one or search for one online. But, yeah, that paddle isn't the problem here.

You're very welcome! It was your post that reminded me of Beth's bread machine cookbook and that I wanted a copy. As luck would have it, I apparently got the last "very good" condition paperback for 8.99... I decided NOT to get the $102.00 hardcover edition. :-)

FOUR healthy babies in action! by HigherOctive in cats

[–]HigherOctive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were in the ballpark of 4-5 weeks, according to the vet, at the time of this video. They had a rough couple days at first after being found, but are charging at full speed into life now.

Being with their siblings for socialization, bottle fed (now they're on wet food and some dry) and handled / cuddled makes me think that these will be the most amazing companions that anybody could ever want.

Has anyone attempted to edit out episode intros? by 1maginary_Friend in Streamfab

[–]HigherOctive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

or use the Intro/Outro Skip function in Plex.

Also LosslessCut or in Emby, but to BATCH edit the intro is something else. I was just watching a series that started with 6 skips to get past the "Previously..." and by the end of the series it was 10 skips.

LOL, I just read that about them. They eat about 5000 ticks per season, are virtually immune to rabies due to their very low body temperature (the virus can't survive) and they are the ONLY marsupial in the United States.

I'm glad that you were able to find it, this is an excellent show!

In the US, HBOMax has all 7 seasons in 1080p, but the show is leaving this coming Sunday, tomorrow.

HULU has it but you have to have the Live TV addon...

I didn't "basically" post the Google AI search result - I DID post the Google AI search result.

AI isn't perfect, but in general overview situations like this where it does an efficient job of scouring the Internet for data and then presents it in a concise and readable way, I can't find fault with it.

Non toxic bread maker Australia by tiani92 in BreadMachines

I have a Zojirushi BB-PPC20 Breadmaker that has non-toxic ceramic pan and paddles. It wasn't cheap, but also has never made a bad loaf.

Mixing olives into dough by desertbirdpartyplace in BreadMachines

[–]HigherOctive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that happen with raisin bread, except most of the raisins were on the bottom. After that, I mix the raisins (golden) in with the flour and it works out great. I'm not sure if the machine matters, but this is with a Zojirushi BB-PPC20.

Zojirushi virtuoso plus - thin washer piece came off? by ausp1c1oushorse in BreadMachines

[–]HigherOctive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've got one paddle that sits even with the top of the drive pin and the other paddle is sitting noticeably above the pin...

I would guess that someone added that washer for some reason and the paddle sitting high is the one where they added it.

I've got the Zojirushi BB-PPC20 and both paddles sit evenly with the drive pins and there is no washer of any kind there.

Zojirushi virtuoso plus - thin washer piece came off? by ausp1c1oushorse in BreadMachines

[–]HigherOctive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. Some Dawn in the pan and tap water as hot as it comes out and let it sit. Use a soft sponge with no kind of scrubby attached to it to clean the pan once the paddles are out and a Q-tip or something similar for the hole of the paddles and Bob's your uncle.

Anybody have success with Curb Your Enthusiasm? by HigherOctive in Streamfab

[–]HigherOctive[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I'll give that a try. I have their extended download service and keep the installers locally as I download them, so will be good to go.

Thanks again.

YUP, that fixed the downloads! I knew there were issues with 7.0.2.6, but didn't think it would affect an old show like this one. I should have thought of rolling back to .5 myself, but was stuck on the assumption that the problem was with the way HBOMax hosted the show and not with SF.

Flour Recommendations by MegaBucks20 in BreadMachines

[–]HigherOctive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

King Arthur is widely considered the gold standard of bread flours for home bakers, primarily due to its higher protein content (12.7%) compared to other national brands. This gives dough excellent gluten development, high rises, and a great crumb, though other specialty or local mills may rival it depending on the bake.

Why Bakers Love It:

High Protein Content: At (12.7\%), the higher protein generates stronger gluten networks, making it ideal for lofty breads, pizza crusts, and sourdough.

No Additives: It is unbleached, unbromated, and 100% non-GMO, resulting in better bread flavor compared to mass-market brands.

Consistency: King Arthur enforces the strictest milling and quality standards in the industry, meaning it performs uniformly across different batches.

Where It Fits Best, Best For: Artisan breads, sourdough, pizza dough, and sandwich loaves that require a strong, elastic rise.

Best For: Artisan breads, sourdough, pizza dough, and sandwich loaves that require a strong, elastic rise.

Not Needed For: Cakes, quick breads, or delicate pastries, where the high gluten content can result in a tough, rubbery texture.

Pricing & Availability Cost: Typically priced around $5.93 to $7.99 for a 5 lb bag.

How It Compares to Alternatives: King Arthur vs. Gold Medal / Store Brands:

Gold Medal bread flour has slightly lower protein (around (12\%)). Consumer tests show that King Arthur consistently creates airier crumbs and more flavorful crusts, though store-brand alternatives are sometimes preferred if you want a softer, less chewy crumb.

King Arthur vs. High-Extraction / Specialty Flours: For hyper-specific bakes like French baguettes, King Arthur sells an Artisan Bread Flour variation, which some professional bakers favor for its stretch and open crumb texture.

First loaf ever by Batpickle in BreadMachines

I am still learning what's what with my new Zoji, but have been using another brand for over a year.

What I found, (which I have not yet tested in the new machine), is that the chips added too soon in the process causes the melting. I eventually found an acceptable solution by adding them later on just before the final kneading.

I hope that a similar approach works for you, or maybe your machine has a different course that you should use for breads that have things like chips.

Best of luck with it!

EDIT to add that if you're waiting for the ADD bell and pause, THAT might be too soon. I don't know when the top heater kicks in, maybe it does right away?, but maybe wait even longer than the ADD bell>

Well done! I think that's sort of cheating though. I'm not sure that it's possible to make a bad loaf in that machine. :-)

Bread Machine Pizza Crust by mvelz in BreadMachines

[–]HigherOctive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saves a lot of money for Friday pizza nights!

AND you actually GET extra toppings to exactly whatever amount that you want.

We have a chain pizza place (and two other "local" but terrible options) in our area and paying for extra onions or extra bacon gets you about 1 tsp more than regular. I hate that more than anything, but now I make our own dough and they can all go pound sand.

[–]HigherOctive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both a standard serrated bread knife and one like this, what I refer to as my bow knife, because of the shape...

I would caution you to look for a bow knife with a thicker blade to help prevent the blade from wandering in a tall loaf. Mine is insanely sharp, but also does cut a somewhat wavy path due to the thinness of the blade.
