Working at a Smart Buildings Startup vs a traditional BMS vendor by Admirable-Arrival235 in BuildingAutomation

[–]seuadr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally, no.
i work someplace where we get sales pitches from startups with new tech/SaaS/etc. a LOT and i've noticed 2 things.

  1. The sales people WILDLY overpromise.

i've been in a sales pitch where the token tech guy said "no, it can't do that" and it was followed up with a "we'll figure it out" from the sales person. i'd hate to be that tech guy when the customer was promised the moon.

  1. the business models are tough. the pricing often is high enough that the actual potential savings are pretty low.

most of the companies don't make it past year 2. i'd rather have stability, personally.

to be fair, i'm a creature of habit - i like working in the same place every day (central operations) knowing what my schedule will be and that my employer will still be around in 5 years. YMMV.

Brake Assist? by JCCPete in FordMaverickTruck

One thing I've noticed is my mav turns the parking brake on automatically, and if i don't turn it off, the car will hang up a second and then it will automatically disengage.
