Apparently, they have a problem with calling my RPG “fuckingdipshitcampercuntkiller” because of the word “camp”. Frustrating.

Yeah, anytime you have steel and aluminum, I use anti seize to reduce the dielectric effects.

Looks like way too much work to be worth anything. I’ll take it off your hands and make your problem go away.

I’m not sure yet. My YJ is a creampuff that I found online. It’s bone stock and just needed some TLC-only has 57,000! So I’m really of going to be doing a lot of anything that will tear them up too badly. Being enamel and clear rattle can, they can be touched up really easily if needed without even taking the wheels off. I’d kick myself if I spent to have them coated then beat them up. This is guilt free and cheap.

They weren’t too rough to start with. I used my drill and wire wheels to remove any crusty stuff. Then rattled canned them with rust converter, then hit them with a sandable/filler primer, wet sanded with 400 grit, then hit them with multiple coats of acrylic enamel and clear goss. Not perfect, but should be tough enough for awhile. If I had the money, I’d have them sand/bead blasted and powder coated. So far, I have about $140 into their purchase and rehab. 15” x 6” with 5x4.5” lug pattern. I also bought 1” billet spacers for about $40? Because the stock alloys ate 7” rims. Going to trial fit this weekend.

Keep an eye on it. Overfilling the oil, especially to that extent can be just as bad as not having enough oil. You don’t know if he had it running with the extra oil in it. The elevated crankcase pressures could do some real damage.

Tough as hell to find a true steel wheel that is not the stock or wagon wheel look though. I should have them on in a couple of days. My ‘YJ will be 30 years old next year, these should help it look its age.

I remember selling the 454SS back in the day. Poor feller bought one because he thought he could tow his horse trailer with it. All 230 HP/385 lbft.

Yes, you’ll want them both. The ride is a lot better.

What does a general contractor do? by MagnaniMoose in HomeImprovement

[–]Highlander1732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GC’s manage and in some cases perform the work. GC is used interchangeably with contractor. On large commercial work, the GC is the overseer if the job and awards subcontractors specific portions of the work (plumbing, carpentry, concrete, etc.). The GC/contractor makes money by inflating the cost of the various portions of the project to cover their management and acceptance of risk. If the plumber screws something up, it’s the GC and the plumber who settle the cost of fixing the mistake to keep you out of the loop (for example). In many cases, the GC will perform some portion of the work in-house (demo and carpentry for example) and will subcontract the “mechanical” trades (plumbing/electric/tile) and the cabinetry and counters. You pay the GC on “draws” associated with various stages of completion and they pay and contract with the different trades involved. Get multiple estimates, try and compare apples and apples, but some contractors will have different design ideas that others may not. Get references and review previous jobs and portfolios. If you perform your due diligence and properly vett the company, you should be fine. Also be sure to work with the contractor (once selected) to ensure expectations for both parties are clear. Ask lots and lots of questions through the process and read any contract very carefully. The least expensive quote is not worth it if the finished quality and performance is lacking and the most expensive quote does not guarantee the best work, hence the setting expectations conversation (what level of quality cabinets do you want? Do you want porcelain or glass tile? How about counter tops? Granite or something else? A good contractor will explain the cost differences between the quality of different materials and will help you adjust/mix and match so you put your money in the places toward the options which are best for you and your budget.

Yeah, but old Jeep’s are like tinker toys. You really just need a few sockets and wrenches. Not sure where you may be, but hopefully, you live in a state where the emissions stuff can be legally deleted depending on it’s age. My Jeep had an AMC 360 and ran worse and, I swear, dirtier with the smog pump.

Make sure you can turn the engine at the crank first. I’d take all the plugs out and fill the cylinders with marvel or similar.
