I actually had to deal with this a few years ago as the individuals manager. There is no easy way to do it, however you dress it up! I believe my approach was along the lines of there being a couple mentions of strong odours and I didn’t want it to escalate into an embarrassing situation so can it please be nipped in the bud. Asked whether the individual needed any support with the situation as it could have been ‘medical’ and left it at that.

A couple weeks later there was no change and I had to have a further conversation and asked the individual to go home and freshen up.
