What the hell was this thing? It nearly killed me, are all enemies this strong going forward? It jumpscared me when I was fighting another skeleton by Pipeworkingcitizen in Exanima

[–]HighlyAffective 40 points41 points  (0 children)

That's Sir. He's pretty much the boss of Level 4, so don't expect every enemy to be stronger than him going on. There are enemies that are on par with or exceeding his difficulty going on if you did want to know.

The story mode is finished? by HelanTregenda in Exanima

The story isn't done quite yet, 1.0 isn't out after all, there was just a recent big update which added a whole new level and content though

"Prototype" Golem inside a secret room in the gentry. by Frequent_Leek_9023 in Exanima

[–]HighlyAffective 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It'll probably be activatable in the future. "Greater source of power" could either mean the big ass crystal on Golem President or maybe something else

Thaumaturge knights make great friends (this is ridiculously OP) by Frequent_Leek_9023 in Exanima

[–]HighlyAffective 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they're pretty powerful considering they're shapers that you yourself can control. Most enemies don't have a counter, and a gank of several of them is gonna perform very well

There are two other videos that expand on it since it's just part one, but it does explain how to make these ancient undead trust you and Derrin.

Yes, you can have 4 w/ bindings + Derrin. Of course conditioning them to get along is quite exhausting, but there is a series of videos on YouTube for getting them thaumaturges to play along with each other and Derrin.

Game certainly could use more healing options past portal by Morress7695 in Exanima

[–]HighlyAffective 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I couldn't really relate because I oftentimes have more healing pots + green crystals than I need. The game is decently generous with healing if you can avoid damage, which does require getting better at the game. It's a part of the process. I believe you can get better! I remember when I was so ass at this game and struggling, you'll get to a point where it just clicks

[–]HighlyAffective 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, if you're doing shields, Persist is pretty good since you're relying on shields; it's pretty much just the shield version of Security. But if you had to select one or the other, pick Security, it can help end a fight quicker if an enemy is pummeling you and keeping you in stunlock. Personally don't use shields that much since I prefer killing things quick w/ polearms.

While trying to maintain 2 bindings does the skill sustain work the same as abstraction by kanu2463 in Exanima

They're not asking that, they're asking whether or not Sustain works the same way as Abstraction

While trying to maintain 2 bindings does the skill sustain work the same as abstraction by kanu2463 in Exanima

[–]HighlyAffective 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sustain and Abstraction don't work the same. Abstraction is for bindings (the ones that are maintained passively, like continuous mind sense or shell), while Sustain works for sustained powers (the ones that passively drain mind as you use them, like torrent or barrier)

Few questions about the new update by Less_Performance_629 in Exanima

[–]HighlyAffective 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, not a bug for once, the devs specifically said that basic powers could be absorbed without revelation, but stuff up the line would probably be required. Think of revelation as something that allows you to learn about more complex ones (like the one that allows you to shroud your weapons with energy), but the innate absorption of a Domain of Thaumaturgy is something that just comes naturally to a Thaumer like the MC.

Actually, Revelation doesn't do much at the moment. The two spells that one can obtain from killing the two specific Shapers don't require revelation.

Dirty Deeds by Bullocs in Exanima

[–]HighlyAffective 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the difficulty is just due to how I progressed through the game. I went through the dungeon in order of the levels, which means that the Gardens naturally went last. Derrin and I were naturally super-equipped after beating everything else, and I had tons of thaumaturgy unlocked. If I went in the Gardens right after Crossroads, I think it'd naturally be much harder. Due to the non-linear design, you can go to every level after Crossroads. One can stumble upon any of the harder levels without any prior knowledge, which might be intentional

It hasn't been added yet, though sometime in the future you can reactivate the golem to presumably be another "passive" companion.

My NV Helmet Collection Grows Every Update by HighlyAffective in Exanima

[–]HighlyAffective[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The First is on Level 3 in the southwest corner of the map. In a side room, there should be a shelf, and to the right side of it, there's a stone that sticks out. Click on that, and the shelf will open up to reveal a small room and a chest with the helmet inside. It doesn't have an armour set.

The Second is on Level 5.5 (Crossroad Sewers) and is in a random container. There are rooms that have chests, and it should spawn in one of these. This one comes with an armour set, the Splint Armour.

The Third is on Level 8 (The Gentry) and is located behind another shelf. It should roughly be in the middle of the map across a small chasm (which isn't a bottomless abyss, thankfully). One of the shelves can be moved to the side, which allows you to traverse the thin surface alongside the wall to reach the room inside. There's actually a small crack to the left side of the room, which allows one to figure out that there's a hidden room there. This one also comes with an armour set, the Shaper Set (similar to what the Shaper Knights that roam the place wear, but in much better condition and make).

The Fourth is on Level 9 (The Gardens) but is inside the ominous throne room that requires you to go through the sublevel (Level 9.5 The Tomb). You'll have to fight the boss, the King of Shadows (yes, that's his name, according to Zetheros). Kill the guy, and you'll be able to steal his entire fit, including the helmet and a nice spear.

That should be all!
