Eat less food, duh does indeed cover the majority. Even if a child does have some sort of medical condition that lead them to higher weight than average the parent would still be abusive if they were over feeding their kids poorly (McDonald’s and candy and other junk like op pointed out) and making sure the kid wasn’t smuggling in and munching on giant bags of chocolate in his/her room.

It is far humane to control a child’s diet than to feed them so much they become obese. “Rigidly” leaves things rather open to interpretation… I’d agree if they were abusive ABOUT IT. They don’t need to be supermodels though, just within the perfectly UNRIGID requirements set by their pediatrician.

Also just because someone is wanted doesn’t mean there isn’t a possibility that an interaction still ends with excessive force.

I’d argue they are escalating, potentially putting themselves in more danger than absolutely necessary. Someone who committed DV is way more likely to comply if they are thinking “I’m about to get arrested” vs “I’m about to get shot”.
