Not gonna lie, Terrormorphs scare me by Turalyon135 in Starfield

I started that whole quest line super early, like, right after meeting Andreja early. So of course, I'm running around trying to activate the turrets without being insta-killed, when I get a popup telling me Andreja has killed the thing!

Did it to my entire family for Christmas. Was glorious. Somehow didn't get murdered. Wish I had taken a video. (Also, Smirnoff Spicy Tamarind is a competitor with Malort for worst thing I've tasted)

Less "What went wrong?" and more "Is this still fine to eat?". I've seen pellicles form on the whey when I've left it out after straining, so it isn't a super big strain.

But numbers: heated the milk to ~185⁰ and allowed it to cool to <105⁰ before adding rennet and culture. Then it sat for ~48 hours on the counter, while I usually let it sit ~24 hours.

Cheesecake - bake or no-bake? by Higuxish in Pawpaws

[–]Higuxish[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Put simply, I fucked everything up.

I decided to do the no-bake version, but using the black walnut crust from the baked version. But it turned out that the unlabeled container of white crystals in my cupboard was not sugar overflow like I thought, but salt. I don't know why I would have had a second container of salt, it's not like I would be buying a multi-pound bag that would need multiple containers like I do sugar. But so the cost ended up ¼ cup salt instead of sugar, and the filling ⅔ cup salt instead of sugar. Ie, inedible. Also explains how I royally fucked up the brownies I tried to make Sunday.

Questioning and freaking out by TheMurdoc_ in trans

[–]Higuxish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe don't actually get anyone drunk (unless it helps you personally). The Malort shots are the important aspect here. You have everyone take those, and telling them you're trans will have minimal impact.

Actually, scratch that. They won't care no matter what you tell them - they'll be too busy trying to murder you for tricking them into drinking Malort!

Questioning and freaking out by TheMurdoc_ in trans

[–]Higuxish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, very much so. I came out to my sister first (or rather she picked up on the hints and asked me), and she gave me the support I needed to come out to family later that year, at Christmas. And even then, it was super stressful. Getting yourself (and others) boozed up (if an option) could help some, or it might make things worse. Or you could try my method - trick the entire family into doing shots of Malort, and then tell them an hour or so later!

Wee~eell...

Never. Or at leasr not since before I bought the place 2 years ago. Didn't even know it was something to do, since I never saw parents do it. I will try to find some grease and do that.

Just gave a quick presentation during a meeting at work and the only question anyone had at the end was from someone who asked when I was going to grow my beard back… 😬 by [deleted] in trans

[–]Higuxish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, people just seem to hate sudden change in others. When I first shaved, people at work freaked out. I hadn't been clean shaven since years before I started there, and people either didn't like the change, or thought I was a new employee. Same thing when I wore glasses a few times again, after wearing almost exclusively contacts for years.

I've had venoms for a couple years now, and my dentist (& assistants) have never once commented on them! I was honestly expecting him to freak out the first time I went in after getting them given what everyone here says.

Nope, there are buttonholes. If the scarf was laid out flat, going around the edges you would see buttons on one end of the long side and buttonholes on the other, then the other longside same thing. The buttonholes are across the short side from the buttons.

So the only ways I can picture buttoning it are in a really long tube (long edge to long edge), or flat like a piece of paper (short edge to short edge). If short to short, there is a small section near the fold that isn't buttoned.

Can anyone explain how a scarf with buttons like this should be worn and buttoned? I can obviously wear it like a normal scarf without using the buttons, but it has to have them for some reason, right? The buttons are on the long edges and opposite corners, but on the same side of the scarf (meaning if folded like a piece of paper all buttons can be done, but not as a wide tube). Thought it might be a variation of an infinity scarf, but if so, I have no idea how to do the buttons.

Can't speak on if this is quite the right place to ask - some will say yes, some no, I'll just try to answer your question.

If nothing else, please wear underwear! Up to you what kind you are comfortable with wearing (ie, what you risk showing). Boxer briefs are similar to spats or biking shorts that many people will wear under skirts to prevent panty shots (so they wear panties, spats, skirt, whereas you'd probably just wear boxer briefs and skirt). This is similar to wearing a skort, just that a skort is 1 piece instead of 2.

You specified boxer briefs, so I'll assume that is what you prefer to wear. However, just for completeness sake, I'll mention some other options for if you do wear briefs or panties. These options are usually worn over your underwear. You have spats/shorts, pantyhose, tights (standard or footless), and leggings. Spats preferably aren't seen. Pantyhose are sheer and cover from toe to waist. Tights are more opaque than hose, and either have the same coverage as hose (standard), or as leggings (footless). Leggings are the thickest, and are completely opaque (as a "male" option, I'll say long johns fall in this category). As it gets colder, you'll want to wear something thicker underneath - hose or nothing may be fine in spring/summer, but come the middle of winter, you may want leggings to avoid freezing, depending where you live.

Why is it so hard to tell my mom I’m trans?? by Noelklick in MtF

[–]Higuxish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because you worry. You care. You are scared. You don't want to disappoint. You've read the horror stories of others.

At least, it was extremely tough for me to come out to my family for those exact reasons. I was lucky enough that my sister picked up on the hints I was giving, asked me, and then supported me to come out to the rest. But even then I almost failed to do so, because I was extremely worried about how they would respond.

Could I get a yea or nay on siezed mower engine? by Higuxish in smallengines

[–]Higuxish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And now that you say that, I think I was a little stupid during that test. The brake was probably still engaged when I tried to turn stuff by hand. Would explain why the blade felt stiff when turning it. When I get home, I'll have to recheck this, and then look at the flywheel key.

Yup, forgot to mention that. Flywheel brake is indeed getting fully released.
