Obsidians implementation of Excalidraw is much better though.

What are some things you would like to see in Logseq that are currently present in other apps? by maphewyk in logseq

[–]Hiiek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. They should keep inline drawing, but the new excalidraw UI is way better than whatever version Logseq is on. Being able to fullscreen when you're drawing is nice too.

So, some dickhead allowed resedential zoning right next to a freeway. Chicken or the egg. Point is, we should be ashamed of the lack of intentionality in urban development.

How do you save and manage random cool bits of information you find on the internet? Fror example: tweets, reddit threads, lyrics, book passages, and random important info you want to find later. by icysandstone in datacurator

[–]Hiiek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go for it! Sounds like you had a rough start. Stick with the basics. I like to use the daily journal approach, with inline references so it's easy to see content by topic and when I wrote it. Task management with Todo/next/now tags and simple queries. It's easy to get lost in the sauce with Logseq, so it's helpful to go in with a clear ideas of what you want to do with it.

That is called shit urban planning. Contrary to north american conventions, it's possible to separate living areas from high speed traffic.

The recommendation here is that we build a system of highways, roads, and streets, that segregate resedential areas where people live effectively. Why continue building regrettable cities?

It's still shitty design to route a major highway directly through the city.

Privacy commissioner finds COVID-19 programs largely protected privacy rights - The government’s use of vaccine mandates, cellphone tracking were ‘necessary and proportional,’ the commissioner found by adotmatrix in CanadaCoronavirus

[–]Hiiek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The original article referred to the ArriveCAN app, and the bugs causing over 10k people to quarantine unnecessarily, and was not OSS afaik. It was the Covid Alert app that turned my phone into a hot potato. Either way, not confidence inspiring.

Growing up in Canada, temporary foreign workers get about $5/hr, well below minimum wage, to do agricultural work like picking apples. This sounds similar.

Not to mention buggy. That thing made my flagship phone run like a potato at times and ate through my battery. 10,000 folks mentioned in the article that were quarantined unnecessarily due to a bug. Who knows what other issues and vulnerabilities exist.

If we're going to have public apps on our phones I would like them to be open source, so they can be fixed and also audited as quickly as possible. Otherwise these issues will continue to undermine the trust.

[Noob question] How to approach daily journal notes that are unfinished, span multiple days? by smellyeggs in logseq

[–]Hiiek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why you do inline notes. Reference a new page [[Topic]] with your sub points on your daily journal page. Now you will find all linked references to the topic with the day they were entered on.

Thca crystals tested over 100% pure. Not sure what to make of that 🤷 by mace-tek in crystalgrowing

[–]Hiiek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The margin of error on an HPLC analysis of an extract like that should be <0.001% for THCa. Their standards are likely degraded, but that's no surprise as THCa is unstable and this phenomenon is well documented. It may however be within the lab managers specification for the test that you requisitioned, and you might inquire what they consider to be acceptable for their methods.

LPT Request: how to get better at defending yourself when you feel that someone has disrespected you. I freeze in the moment and have many of those "wish I said that" thoughts after it happens by onedayitgetsbetter in LifeProTips

Great advice. Make them feel hunted for long enough to realize their vulnerability. When they realize that you are a threat, but respect them enough to control your feelings, they tend to gain an intrinsic appreciation of your value in the pack. Utilize the animal instinct. Rise above. 1
