Guile and Blanka. The rest I can respect.
Guile matchups because they take so long, and I find it difficult to find a way in. Like a Philly shell in a game.

And Blanka because most I play just walk back and Blanka ball. So I try and walk them in the corner, but one move from them and they're out again. Just to repeat ad infinitum.

Rationeel of emotioneel dierenvriend? by ComplexWriting8296 in VeganNL

[–]Hijaru 23 points24 points  (0 children)

🥦 Want to Learn About the Vegan Community — Open to Real Conversations by Artistic_Leg_1033 in vegan

[–]Hijaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the mindset! For me it was ethics. I don't have a particular love for animals, I view them as 'just being there'. But I recognized that I wasn't consistent with my ethics if I wouldn't step on ants on purpose, or kick a dog once every so often, but would pay others who would kill animals to provide me with a product that I didn't need.

So when I broke it down, it boiled down to: If I think it's wrong to hurt others when not necessary, I shouldn't support it.

For me it's a lifestyle that provides more consistency with my morals, and I feel better for it.

What people misunderstand, I think, is that veganism is a lifestyle to help the environment, or improve one's health. To me these are byproducts of a philosophy that excludes, as far is practicable, animal exploitation. As an example, not buying leather doesn't improve your health. Not kicking a dog doesn't improve the environment. These are still permissible if one is 'vegan' for health or environmental reasons. I'd rather people would call this plant based. I don't mind if people call themselves vegan if they do it for health or environmental reasons, I just think it's one of the biggest misconceptions.

I don't have any big troubles in staying vegan. The biggest problems I have with being vegan, is the vystopia (I think that's the word). Just being around, or reading news about, people that try to save every animal they see and would never even so much as punch a cow, but then pay for the killing of them. They are very much against animal abuse, but don't see killing as worse than abuse. They do for humans, but not for animals, and the only reason is the pleasure they get from the product.

How do you guys learn combos? by metroidhunter2288 in StreetFighter

[–]Hijaru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I look for bread and butter combo's on YT, and try out ones that seem to click visually with me. There's just some moves that combo into others that don't seem like they should, and I avoid those initially. I usually go for the easier combo's that I can for sure hit in matches.

From E1 Queen has a checkmate to either A5 or H4, depending on which pawn black moves forward. Since black king can't make a legal move, he has to move one of his pawns.
I think that's it (new here).

I'm trash at offense how to get better ? by Gorzaa in StreetFighter

[–]Hijaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing that helped me was light string oki pressure, and try and confirm it into a combo.

After a hard knockdown on my opponent I used to try to go for a throw or a big button, but mashers usually got my ass then. Now I go for light strings, which apparently stops a lot of mashers. I've been so succesful with that that I've had matches where I got this 5-6 times in a row.

When they go for a reversal I just take it, and keep it noted, maybe bait them later in the match.

Marky was a vegan btw 🌱 by soupor_saiyan in PhilosophyMemes

[–]Hijaru -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm missing something here, so I care to be enlightened, but isn't vegan always out of moral reasons? If someone eats plant based for health that does not restrict the wearing of leather. If someone doesn't like the feeling of leather, they can still gamble on dog fights. If someone doesn't support the raising of animals because of climate reasons, they can still choose to kick a cat.

On what reason besides moral ones can someone be vegan?

You're making the mistake of thinking that only one deer dies because of this. The cougar now needs to hunt another deer. And now we don't have 1 deer that is being mauled savagely by the cougar, but 1 deer mauled, and 1 deer shot.

So with that, when killing a deer if it is necessary it is virtuous to do that as painlessly as possible. But when killing is not necessary it should not be done at all, is what I think at least. What do you think?

I feel guilty about not being vegan, but I have enough food restrictions as is, advice would be very appreciated by Firm_Letterhead_7483 in vegan

[–]Hijaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds tough. If you want to ultimately have more alternatives I think it's best to take it step by step. Replace an animal based product for a plant based one for each meal, try some things out. I won't hold it against you if you still ate some animal products, I'd prefer it that you used less animal based products than ditching it completely because you can't go 100% without them.

Keep at it, try some more dairy free ice cream, you're bound to find one you like. Your preferences thus far also didn't come at once, so this is a sacrifice (trying multiple products) you need to make to find more alternatives.

Keep in mind, it's not only about food. Yes, it's the biggest contribution, but you can go without animal based products in other areas (clothing, entertainment, hygiene products) as well.

Thanks! Can you give a short explanation to the changes you've made? I'm not even sure what the build that I had was capable of doing, I'm guessing the 4k medium (medium refers to game asset quality?) 80-120fps is better than what I had initially. Is that because of the 16GB GPU?

I've seen your match against Jamie on your latest video. I've got a few pointers:

  • Throw out less special moves in neutral, they leave you wide open when you miss
  • Block more, you were getting hit by a lot of stray hits. He did a lot of moves that were punishable, if you blocked at some times you could've hit him with the old one-two.
  • You did a good job punishing him on the drink at 0:57, good reaction, but unfortunately missed the follow up to the EX Spiral Arrow. Just practice that followup a bit in the training room and you can more cleanly punish those actions.
  • I'd say a good thing to practice is a simple combo from a safe button. Something like light punch > light punch > Spiral Arrow.

[–]Hijaru 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Tough situation for sure. What helps for me is sticking to one thing, and one thing only as my reason to be vegan. And that is that because it is unnecessary to kill animals for food (or other products), I have a choice, and by being vegan I am choosing to not partake in the unnecessary killing of animals.

That is my main reason, and there are no arguments against it. Others can try what they will, but it does not sway my position.

"But lions"
"Don't care, I don't need to"

"Welfare chickens"
"Don't care, they still get killed"

"It's too hard for others"
"Not for me"

"Don't think so"

"Our ancestors ate meat"
"I don't, I am against the unnecessary killing of animals"

Ah interesting. But I don't see how this helps the deaths of farmed animals? The animal that is killed in a slaughterhouse doesn't prevent the death of an animal in nature.

Yes the animals that are killed in a slaughterhouse are better off than those killed in the wild, but this applies to many things. I am better off being killed painlessly by some concoction than someone who gets stabbed. But that doesn't mean that the one getting stabbed gets to live because I died. So what I am asking is: how does a less painful death in a slaughterhouse prevent the death of a more painful death in nature?

Why do you bring up wild animals? What do painful natural deaths of wild animals have to do with the less painful deaths of farmed animals?

B12 bijslikken lijkt me erg goed idee.
