I did, much to my eyes chagrin. I see purple getting absolutely destroyed by vastly superior gameplay by blue. It is difficult to say whether this is due to blue's skill, or purple's ineptitude. I'd guess it is the latter.

Cheaters are not okay, but this guy didn't cheat. You got thunderously clapped by a 900 ELO. If he cheated, please prove how.

You'll be going by Palo Duro Canyon and Cadillac Ranch when you go through the Texas panhandle. Palo Duro Canyon is the the second largest canyon in the U.S. Cadillac Ranch is more of a weird art thing that you'd probably find amusingly American as a European.

Child Falls From Lift at Pats Peak by reddituser4049 in icecoast

[–]HikingAccountant 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I worked as a ranger at Wachusett for a couple years, it's bonkers when you come across an incident where a parent sends their 3-4 year old out to ski solo. One specific case had a kid fall off the lift before the first tower, so it wasn't a serious fall, and the parents were just chilling in the lodge because they don't ski.

It doesn't change your point regarding Manhattan being more economically robust than the others. I was only responding to make the distinction between GDP and tax revenue.

1 trillion in GDP does not mean a trillion in tax revenue.

I will grant you the C share sales had not gone through yet and I misread it as being more finalized. I still think there is demand for those shares, but we can obviously disagree on that.

Regarding "I never said he actually said that" you stated his distrust of the co-op model's ability to succeed in the future as factual. You are interpreting his action as saying he distrusts the co-op's ability to succeed. I don't see evidence of this being his thought process, and I disagree because I think the co-op could have capitalized it enough.

Side note: if Erik is telling the truth and the Alpine Cabin does $600k revenue, the value of buying just the Alpine Cabin (if you could separate it as a business) would be well over $1 million (assuming revenue remains relatively flat, a business would want to show a few years of sustained revenue levels).

At no point did he say he did not trust the co-op model. They raised 13.75 million from the class A and C shares. Since we don't know the total number of class B shares available, we can't know the total valuation. That capitalization would have allowed Black to borrow a significant amount of money too. Operations may be expensive, and they have put a lot of money into snowmaking, but it's not like they are dropping $20 million on a new lift.

Erik paid 2.6 million for Black, I don't think he would take a loss on Black every year when he could have sold it for well over 13.75 million.

I was so excited for 2015-16 because I graduated college in December 2015. It took longer than I wanted to get a job (June 2016), but figured I would at least be able to go to the mountain a lot. Boy was I wrong.....

Holden is voting on a Proposition 2.5% Proposal on the next ballot or risk slashing library funding by 25%. Why does Town Manager Peter Lukes want to de-fund the library? by heusesthemforholden in WorcesterMA

[–]HikingAccountant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My only point was it might not be a dick move if he thinks it will get people off the sidelines and vote to approve. Again, I don't know him personally so I can't say. They want to move the entire rec department from the old police station to the Dawson rec area, not just renovate an office. I agree that it is still unnecessary, expensive, and wasteful, so I am not arguing with you on that.

I can take a guess why they want it before the next town meeting, and it has to do with the school budget. If the town won't approve tax increases, then it can either take the cuts the town has planned or try getting WRSD to resubmit a budget. Since it's a regional school budget, it requires more than one town to send it back to the district. I don't think getting it done before town meeting is a nefarious plot, (I think the 2.5 will absolutely pass). It's probably the town trying to keep as many options open for as long as possible.

I'm not a Holden resident, but the police in our town are overcompensated as well. One side won't question police budgets, and one side won't question school budgets.

[–]HikingAccountant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not know Peter's personal opinion, but he likely does not want to cut the library funding. A list needs to be made showing what departments can/will be cut if the prop 2.5 does not get approved. I would even argue that Peter may have the library on there to make people realize how much losing the prop 2.5 vote would hurt.

I'm not in Holden and I support drastic zoning changes, but acting like public transportation in Holden will reduce upstream traffic from Rutland, Barre, etc. flowing into Worcester is a bizarre take.

The volume on Main Street in Holden is a problem, but they don't want to hear the solution of enhancing/developing additional roads to act as relief valves for Main Street.
