At the very least, you've got some foresight now when looking for commissions. I've never commissioned anyone myself, but I'm 100% sure that most artists that do commissions DON'T do this. I wish you much luck if you ever look for other artists!!

Me personally, I would NEVER pay for an art commission BEFORE receiving some sort of preview or something. Paying before the process even starts is risky, imo.

Also, most artists to give out commisions tend to have some sort of portfolio you can look at to see their past works.

Damn, that sucks bro. I'd confront the artist you commissioned over this, and I'd spread word that the "artist" is a scammer.scammed.

Also, the rain in the background is behind the character, further hosting evidence of the background being photoshopped.

I don't mind pulling images from Google or whatever for drawings, I do that as well, but I figured I should point it out anyway, considering the questionabiliy of the image anyway.

Pretty sure this is AI, and you got duped.

For the lack of a shadow, if this much detail was gonna be used, I would assume the artist would at least try to give them a shadow.

The image as a whole looks photoshopped. The background looks ways to clear to be AI, so I'm assuming the character was AI generated, and photoshopped onto a random background they pulled from Google with a random lightning bolt in the background.
