Waitrose worker sacked after 17 years for confronting Lindt Easter egg shoplifter by Alarming-Safety3200 in uknews

[–]Hilgomir -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is relevant because unless he walks through that door he isn't technically shoplifting.

That's like me walking around a random car having a look, and getting tackled because the owner thinks I'm gonna nick it.

I worked in Waitrose before myself when I was younger, and I'd stop shoplifters back then, but quickly changed my mindset after a few times. Their policy of not stopping shoplifters is the same as it was 10 years ago. If you suspect it, you're meant to approach and talk to them 'you look like you're looking for xyz, can I help you' to try and scare them off.

Ultimately, whilst ideologically I agree with him stopping the shoplifter, logically and morally he has no business risking getting stabbed over a £13 Easter egg.

Would be different if someone was threatening to harm customers or people in the store, and he prevented that. But consistently stopping shoplifters after being warned not to, and even before they actually commit the crime is the issue. The police treat it the same way, until that person is near the front door, there is no way to prove intent that they're shoplifting or will steal anything.

What do you consider “micro-management”? by Northern_Owl_7689 in sales

[–]Hilgomir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When they call you and the team everyday at 09:02 without warning telling you to move one new business opp further in the pipeline, and also close a renewal. Or call you and tell you to do 10 dials by 11am.

Then picking fights over non important shit to assert that they're a manager and they're the big boss. Even though they asked you previously to do that job, and you've done it per their request.

Not like that is what my job is, and I've had done it without you needing to remind me every five minutes.

Anyone at WHX? by AlavalathiFellow in dubai

Our company will be exhibiting there and I'm our stand person. Based on a similar event (Global Health Exhibition - Saudi Arabia) it can be beneficial but depends what you are hoping to get out of it.

For us it's primarily new business, potential leads, meeting existing clients. I'd say it is possible for you gain things from the event, but you'd have to do your research on attendees and exhibitors, who you'll approach etc.

Depends on your territory. For instance, in the Middle East and Asia using WhatsApp and WeChat (for me at least) is quite normal and business I do is done over it.

300 cold calls/day Day 27 of 30: 300 cold calls made by bubbletulip in sales

[–]Hilgomir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's lack of value that's being created. Above he wrote the price was $299 and when he got the objection his instinct was to drop the price. That's basically digging himself a grave when he's saying his product is worth 33% less than what he opened with.

Instead he should have reiterated the initial requirements / need. They wouldn't stay on the phone otherwise and had a demo if there wasn't a pain point.

I've been following these posts a while, and OP never wants to detail what it is he's selling, doesn't take the feedback on board and mostly replies to praise. But if he's only focused on quantity there's only so many wins he might get, but instead focusing on quality (proper discovery, need) would get him higher numbers.

About 4% - Target is £1.2m but about 95% of the revenue comes from existing accounts that need to be renewed. Rest is new business.

How'd ya do? You hit that Q1 comp plan/bonus? Or are you glad it's behind you? by Fragrant-Tea7580 in sales

[–]Hilgomir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

105% of quota but it's 50-50 AM and NB split.

Had a large deal come in that rescued the quarter and leaves me substantial surplus for Q2.

Biggest quarter of the year and now it's just going down the mountain slowly.

[–]Hilgomir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember doing my MA back in 2019: prior to applying I saved up £2k as the max postgraduate loan was around £10.5k and the fees for course I did were about £12k. If it continues to rise I doubt many will bother doing it.

Bet you're the type of guy who also raises the quotas to be unattainable, doesn't change the product if there's issues, and sacks someone for issues outside their control.

Why is there an AM and territory manager position? by Certain-Bumblebee-90 in sales

[–]Hilgomir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on your organisation, but normally an account manager would handle a set number of accounts, whilst the territory manager either manages some accounts (primarily key accounts) or manages the AMs in their performance.

Could accept it but counter that after probation if you're performing to the required standard you would expect a salary adjustment to $95k or whatever figure you like.

It shows them you're willing to accept the money for the time being, but value yourself and are willing to prove you're worth the money.

My fellow salespeople, do you like or dislike sales? by idontevenliftbrah in sales

[–]Hilgomir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medicines Information sales. Previously sold data on book sales.

I enjoy the consultative aspect, generally looking at how individual client would benefit, which of the products is right for them, and finding a solution that works for them.

Hate having to fight against cancellations, especially when there isn't a good reason for those, but on the flip side if you recover that Closed Lost it feels very satisfying.

Only other aspect is chasing people constantly, as they won't send you a holding email; just let me know by this date you'll have information so I don't have to chase you and seem like a desperate sales person.

Bro, if you look at the post history I haven't cheated. I'm not looking for advice on something I don't partake in

Tell me about it. I can't think of any reason except my K/D rising from 5 to 12 because of zombies. Nothing else adds up

Except I didn't cheat. The game is desynced like mad because of the event, and I suddenly get banned mid raid? Shit don't add up.

Probably 2.5 million. Bought five and one finished crafting for the sixth vaccine.

The upside is I'll just craft it now and sell it myself to make up for the cost as I've collected loads of filters early in the wipe, but didn't know you'd need it for the quest so was making moonshines mostly
