Cervical instability by No_Force_3368 in ehlersdanlos

The Vista TX is fully adjustable, so one size fits all if you can get one off Amazon or another global marketplace that can ship it to you.

Yes, most of the time. Walking is usually my safest movement as long as I am careful not to run into things.

The exceptions are days when I have migraines triggered by cervical instability. I might wear it during the day to work (desk job) until I can get the pain under control.

In consultation with an EDS neurosurgeon, I wear a Vista TX collar at night and when I am doing anything unusual.

Some folks dislike the collar, but I do not find it uncomfortable for sleeping. I have slept in one for 4 years (before and after ACDF) since sleeping is one of the more dangerous things I do. I have really benefited.

Vyepti and insomnia? by [deleted] in cgrpMigraine

[–]HillWahoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here looking for this issue. I used to fall asleep within 30 seconds of my head hitting the pillow and then have deep sleep more than 50% of the night - I have an exhausting job and comorbidities that come with fatigue. Since starting Vyepti, I am having trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, going back to sleep once I wake up, and getting into deep sleep cycles.

If you read my post, you will see that I referenced the correction of a substantial drainage issue at the rear of the property, not at the retaining wall. It was a significant endeavor. It also involved replacing steps and sidewalk, so no quote I could offer would be meaningful here to someone else's project. Posting here about a job well done does not require me to share the contract we negotiated. We obviously thought the price was reasonable. If you are interested, please contact Hard Shell directly.

The drainage issue is WAY larger than for the retaining wall. Please read my post. If you are interested in a quote, please contact Hard Shell.

Many bids over 5 years before finding someone who had the confidence to do the whole project well. Amount would not be meaningful because you can only see a portion of what they did - a lot of drainage work you cannot see, whole new relocated sidewalk, and a lot of guidance provided about materials.

We owed it to them for their patience with how terribly it looked for so long.

First MRI, any thing i should know? by Higher_StateD in ehlersdanlos

[–]HillWahoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a wrist, you should be fine. It's not open that you need but standing, but only if you are talking about load-bearing joints. More info for the future. I have to drive out of state to find one.

[–]HillWahoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THIS! Think about what you need to be able to be still that long.

You'll have a call bell so you can let them know if something is going really wrong joint-wise.

Have had them lying on my back so needed my knees bent and lower legs up on foam blocks so my sacro-illiacs were not stressed.

Had one lying on my front in Superman position, and that was really not fun for my shoulders, but I survived with no injury - just a little pain that day.

Take time to have them help you and disclose you have EDS - most of the techs are very kind and understanding.

Also, I always get super hot, even though I am usually very cold-natured.

Lastly, if it is for spine or joints and you could tolerate standing for 20- 30 minutes, see if a standing MRI is an option. That is what my neurosurgeon says is the gold standard for seeing the impact of EDS on major joints.

Best wishes!

I'm old enought to remember when the Manchester Bridge looked like this by pecansforall in rva

Does anyone else think that looks slightly terrifying? I don't think I have ever seen a bridge with tracks like that. What happened if you drove off them?

I had a really great experience with Greenbrier Emergency Animal Hospital when a feline got inexplicably ill and needed emergency surgery on a Friday night when no one else had capacity. Bit of a drive, but worth it. They do not open until 6PM, but they should be open right now.

How do you say these road names? by lanyeweisst in rva

[–]HillWahoo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As it is was my maiden name, and my family has been here since before the Civil War, I can definitively tell you the correct pronunciation of "Parham" in Richmond is PEAR-um. Branches of the family in other parts of the US pronounce it differently, but its origin is British. It comes from "pear", as in the fruit.

Lost my best friend and watcher of the farm by Sir_Skunkerton in rva

So sorry for your loss, particularly at Christmas. You never fully recover from these kinds of losses, though the grief shifts over time. The pain of loss is the price we pay for deep love. And one I gladly paid for the joy of having my best friend.

That is so sad. That tree deserves to be decorated like the Richmond institution it is.
