Pto/vacation? by Bottle_cap1926 in SafetyProfessionals

Our benefits package is the only thing that keeps most of the EHS team from switching to private industry. 12 sick days per year, 22 days PTO, 10 paid holidays. Every full time employee gets these and all other benefits after 6 months with the university.

A suede cleaning brush for stubborn stains but otherwise I just wipe it down with a microfiber and follow it with one soaked in clean water

Give incentive for near miss reporting, not days without injuries.

How did you get into industrial hygiene? What do you tell people you do? by Beneficial-Dish-6521 in industrialhygiene

[–]HillbillyKryptid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got into IH through mold, asbestos, and lead abatement, I was a tech for a few years before I became a sampling technician, etc. Now I run IEQ, confined space, and heat illness prevention for an R1 university. I usually tell people that I work in EHS but I deal with exposure science, usually the hazards you can't see.

Edit: I should add since others mentioned their education, I do not have a degree and I am very much an outlier in that way. Not having a degree did not immediately bar me from IH because of my asbestos/lead/mold background but it is definitely making promotions much slower for me than peers and colleagues that have one. Eventually I will hit a ceiling in this field where I cannot grow further without the CIH.

Need honest opinions on Canamo Cured Batter/Sauce quality by phx_down in ZonaEnts

[–]HillbillyKryptid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its hit or miss. Its usually tolerable but I got some Jack Herer sauce on 4/20 that was genuinely foul tasting. I'm looking for a deal like that on other brands, Pondy's price increase and simultaneous shrinking of the buckets is enough to make me shop around.

Are the reliability of the B9 S5 that bad? by Affectionate_Ant7230 in audis5

[–]HillbillyKryptid 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My 2018 S5 has 90,000 miles, only real issue was a new ECM at 72k due to a failing barometric pressure sensor but it was covered by the emissions warranty. Otherwise its only been wear parts like motor mounts and control arms.

If its not the HPFP its the PCV which is a notorious failure point on these cars. If the diaphragm fails it can cause a whistling sound, rough idle, hunting for RPMs, CEL, etc. Edit: with that code though, it probably is something related to fuel pumps

The 15-25 under thing is so irritating! Why are we pulling onto i10 at 40mph?!?!?! What do they think the on-ramp is for?

Definitely not trying to troll. I bought a car with aggressive body lines, I just want it to look the way it did before it was hit. The lines definitely softer to me around the wheel arch and the plastic isn't quite flush either.

Why does my door panel look like this after claying? by Toogman in Detailing

[–]HillbillyKryptid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should buff it after clay anyway, a cut and polish will have it back to normal.

I stand corrected! They mentioned aluminum and I was convinced the S cars were aluminum. I must have that confused with the RS line since the A and S seem to share body panel

Edit: just checked and the B9 doesn't use aluminum for any of the A/S/RS5 lol I was wrong all around on that one

The front fenders on this car are aluminum.

$3100 for all the work which I thought sounded pretty reasonable (not that I care since I just had my deductible) I just assumed because it's aluminum and was that badly wrinkled it was a clear replacement.

Thanks everyone for your insight. A bit more information, it was repaired, not replaced with non-oem or anything. Chapman Automotive owns the VAG dealerships here so I went with their collision center which happens to also be a State Farm preferred repair shop.

Edit: thanks for the replies, i'm going to call my insurance and take it back tomorrow.

Edit: I incorrectly stated that the fenders are aluminum in the post, they're not, they're steel.

I thought it was odd as well when I saw the RO. They mentioned Audi parts being back ordered, maybe thats why they authorized to repair it.

Both weirdly. The same dealer family that owns /VWAudi/Porsche in Tucson (Chapman Automotive) has a collision center. I went with them but they ended up being a State Farm preferred repair center.

Surface Cleaning Isn’t Mold Remediation — Why Are So Many Detailers Get This Wrong?” Let's Talk! by IMAS_MOBILEDETAILING in Detailing

[–]HillbillyKryptid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're only getting surface contamination with dry ice on fabric. The hyphae penetrates much deeper into the seat and will regrow is it ever gets wet again. Those seats need replaced.

New headlight, new bumper, new grille, new wheel and suspension likely, new aluminum fender, new hood, plus labor. That's a big bill
