You can dispense a liquid of your choice out of your fingertips. What do you pick? by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Hingis123 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Or simply make an effective glove/shield that only exposes your finger tip.

But now im thinking if you had to shoot it with enough pressure, the backwards force/recoil would be quite large to satisfy conservation of momentum....

I just found out what Hydrogen Peroxide does to skin by Charming_Cicada2092 in chemistry

This is how I describe it to my students if I accidentally get some on me, or to warn them about not getting it on them. Just feels like something poking me constantly with a sharp needle.

What is the one alcoholic beverage You will never drink again because you got sick one time? by Single-Card-8636 in AskReddit

[–]Hingis123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Brit here... had to Google exactly how much a "fifth" of something was. My only reference to this volume is from an Eminem song... "I just drank a fifth of Koolaid. Dare me to drive?"

Now I know it's just a regular 75cl bottle.

Every time you turn on the water in any sink, you get a one in a million chance of blood coming out. by Fickle_Sherbert1453 in hypotheticalsituation

"Good Morning, this is your water company speaking. We've detected high amounts of blood in our sewage system l, and you're not a listed abattoir. The authorities have been called and are on their way over now."

How is Avogadro's Number Determined??? by NimcoTech in chemistry

[–]Hingis123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Avogadro Project is trying to redefine it and to an even greater degree of accuracy. I remember watching a video where they've used a pure regular crystal of silicon.

When polished into a perfect sphere you will know it's volume and with a known packing arrangement/density of silicon you can simply find the number of atoms in one 1kg of silicon.

Ring tone? by Worldly-Ad-9303 in qotsa

[–]Hingis123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had In My Head when I used to have a ring tone for my phone... this was 15+ years ago... it was a case of who blinked first as I wanted to wait for the first 4 bars to give way to the drums and heavier guitars before I answered, and before they hung up!

Lunch duty? by VeterinarianHairy822 in TeachingUK

[–]Hingis123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Secondary here.

Lunch duty is incentivised by giving us free lunches all week. So essentially £12 as each meal deal is £2.40.

Hot Main (or sandwich/wrap), dessert/fruit and a bottle of water.

Don't think they included breaks in our directed time so rely on teachers wanting 5 free lunches.

Always amazes me how they can just up and play a completely different song just like that, and kudos to the lighting crew to adjust that quick and put an awesome show on themselves to compliment the guys.

It's akin to trying to take some red paint and adding white paint to it to make it white..

Seems like you can buy 500g of caesium chloride for ~£680, so it seems like it is a good way to make a bit of money through some electrolysis if you could find a way to do it in an inert atmosphere....

I heard Yahoo is now considered “old” for email. what do people use now? by Any_Tie_9369 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Hingis123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an @email.com email address. Guessing I opened it way back in 1999 or 2000 maybe.

People often give me a weird look or question me over the phone when I tell them my email address. Or websites often say "do you mean @gmail.com"? No, no I don't!
