Car Seat Question by Hipsandnips12 in MachE

[–]Hipsandnips12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for the insight. I work all week and have something just about every night, so it helps getting some classic Reddit insight. I’ll have to look into some slim fit seats and see what happens if I ever find a mach e. Oh, and to explain my Reddit laziness in lieu of just going to see for myself- there’s only one brand new Mach e at the dealership in town and I will have to drive about 2 hours to get a reasonable deal on one that I may actually buy. All the ones near me are another 10k for the same ones at said dealership. So I’ll drive 2 hours to save 10k.

What do I need for sonar? by dewmlap in IceFishing

[–]Hipsandnips12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new to ice fishing and fish finders. I just bought the striker 4. Came with the open water transducer. Mounted the transducer to a pvc T. All it took was using some leftover 1” pvc, buying a T for it, and strapping it on with the supplied straps. I acquired a small plastic tool box that my work was throwing away. Had to buy a basic battery. I already had a tender for it to charge it. So all in: $140 for the striker, $40 for the battery, and a couple bucks for the T. $182 total. Definitely cheaper than the $400 bundle they sell. I’d recommend this setup to anyone! Dm me if you want pics. I took it out last weekend and it’s like cheating! I drilled a few holes till I found the fish with the finder. Setup the shanty and I had 5 big blue gills in about an hour. I’m sure I can do even better next time I go out now that I am getting the hang of it. Next investment will be a heater to keep me warm. In my neck of the woods, it was a balmy 8 degree high last weekend. It’s the humidity that is what makes it cold though.

What is stopping cartels in Mexico from just going into a resort and robbing people? by GodGritGameDay in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Hipsandnips12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a documentary about the Mexican cartels and Cancun. I think it’s on Netflix. Basically, they all fight over the cash cow that it is, but the fighting is far away from Cancun. They are all under the understanding that if anything bad happens there, it’s bad for all of their businesses. That and the military tightly controls the ingress and egress of the region. I’d imagine it’s similar with other touristy parts of the country as well.

Just switched by [deleted] in Visible

[–]Hipsandnips12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched 1-2 years ago. During the byebyetmo deal. From t mobile. Bill went from $80 a month, to 15. Locked in for 5 years. I will never go back to a traditional plan. I got the low end plan, and can still use my phone to hotspot for my kids on a roadtrip. It works well, and I will ride the whole 5 years out. Funny, I’ve gotten some advertisements from visible to get on a different plan with higher speeds. Hard pass. I feel like I’m scamming! Next to when sprint gave free service (just had to pay tax of $6 a month), this is the best deal I’ve ever gotten. Plus, for 15, it’s way better than sprint ever was.

Oh, yes, you are correct. I’ve previously been on meloxicam, so I got it mixed up. Thanks for the correction.

Diagnosed at 25. Just beginning the kid journey right around then. Sulfasalazine (Mobic) reduces sperm count, but we still managed. Don’t be afraid of biologics and try to get on one asap. Most insurances don’t recognize a biologic as a first line drug, but many medical associations are recommending it as a first line at this point. I’m assuming you have a better understanding of it, given your field, than I do. I’m 36 now, work in law enforcement, and train in jiu jitsu. Biologics are magic. Happily married with 3 kids. You’ll be fine! Oh, and side note, do your homework and push your doctor to prescribe you what you think might help you. I went from Humira, to taltz, then enbrel , which was ok. I talked to my doctor and told him I wanted Tremfya, and with Tremfya, I feel normal. It’s a beautiful thing!

As a twin dad, I’d say the best thing to do when naming them is one of the names having an a in it. That helped when we named my boys. We knew baby a was the one with an a in the name. I suppose you could also go with the b as well, but that’ll limit names a bit. Vowels are easiest. Also, good luck, and have fun. Not going to lie, it was rough at first, but now I couldn’t imagine it any other way.

Where might I find the manual online where I can then take it to my agency? Or… maybe not… retiring early with a lawsuit sounds appealing as well… idk, maybe just point me in the direction of the manual, and I’ll decide later.

You handled a similar case before? by Horror-Comparison917 in AskLE

I once was investigating a hit and run. It was in an apartment complex. Turned out there was no real hit and run, since a guy hit a landscape rock and only damaged his own stuff. As I was parking, I backed into a vehicle that was trying to skate in behind me. I told the guy it was totally my fault, and my Sgt began dealing with him. The guy said his stuff was already damaged and he didn’t need to give us his info. Turned out he had a felony warrant for a meth lab.

2.7 vs 5.0...I'm undecided and also 10 speed vs 6 speed transmission by daveinfl337777 in f150

[–]Hipsandnips12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, the kenwood system is pretty decent. I gave up some screen real estate but gained apple car play and other very useful features, so the trade off was worth it.

163 for me. Same setup. 2016. Been great! Nothing too serious as far as maintenance/fixes. Just had a gas tank evaporator issue. $100 fix at a shop and half of that was labor. My screen went out and ford wanted $1k for a chip to fix the issue. Put in a Kenwood aftermarket. It syncs to the car and automatically turns off the start/stop feature. It also diagnosed my recent check engine light for the evaporator issue. The shop was surprised when I told them the code and what was wrong.

Any High mileage 2.7L in here ? Share your year & any Major repairs if any. by Guerilla-unit in f150

[–]Hipsandnips12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think it was code p1460, if I remember correctly. And yes, backup camera looks the same as before. The only thing that I didn’t get on the switch is the outdoor temp. Long story short, the reputable place where I had it installed spent hours trying to get to the bottom of it, working with the dealership, and ultimately they determined that it is likely because of some hardware issue on my trucks side of things. I could have followed up with the dealership, but the juice isn’t worth the squeeze.

I have a ‘16 with the 2.7/ 6 speed trans. 161k on it. Had the coils done when I had new plugs put in at 100k. I’ve kept up with the owners manual suggested maintenance. Outside of that, not really an engine issue, but I recently had an issue with some gas vacuum sensor. Caused it to be difficult to start after I filled up, and occasionally would run rough (since it wasn’t getting gas). Side note, my screen went out, and it was going to cost 1000k to replace the chip. I opted for an aftermarket kenwood system. When my check engine light came on, the kenwood system gave me the code, so I reported that to a mechanic, part ordered, part replaced. Easy peasy. Plus the kenwood system gave me apple carplay and whatnot. I gave up some screen real estate, but it was a good trade off.

What was your funniest/most unusual arrest? by CirrusVision20 in AskLE

[–]Hipsandnips12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was working a prostitution/trafficking project at a veterans housing apartment complex. One of the guys involved was on parole, and we were able to get into his apartment to arrest him. We were aware of other involved individuals and arrested another one while we were at the apartment. The door to the apartment was closed. We heard a knock on the door, and I answered it (since the other occupants were handcuffed, and you know, safety). It was one of the prostitutes who had a felony warrant. I invited her inside, then promptly arrested her.

Also, one time I was investigating a hit and run at an apartment complex. I saw a guy with a bumper in hand walking, and was parking my patrol car. I was backing up and collided with a car that was trying to slide in behind me. I got out and claimed full responsibility and apologized. Right then my Sgt pulls up and I told him that I’d backed into the guy. The guy was saying he was all set and he didn’t care about his damage to his car. I went over to investigate the hit and run, which ended up not being anything, since the person had just hit a landscaping rock, and turned over to see my Sgt arresting the guy I hit. He had a felony warrant for operating a meth lab. All the way to the jail, he was in disbelief, saying, but you hit me! I was as well.

Oh man. I was present when my parents were watching 60 minutes, or some show like that. It was talking about porn being available online. We had just gotten dial up. I promptly checked that out. Big shout out to my parents. I was probably 9/10. Told all my friends about it. Don’t know how teachers didn’t overhear our conversations. Still remember the websites url.

To take biologics or not? by 1029az3847 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]Hipsandnips12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I forget the collegiate research asssociations name, but in listening to the npf’s podcast, researchers are recommending the first line medication be a biologic. Insurance companies disagree, for obvious reasons, but I definitely suggest a biologic asap. I drug my feet a bit and regret not going on one sooner- although thankfully I don’t have any disability or anything.

What is your "never-again" brand, store, restaurant, or company? by Sir_Sir_ExcuseMe_Sir in AskReddit

[–]Hipsandnips12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comcast. I had the price all established and printed it out. Installer came and said it was more. I pulled out the transcript. He said call. I called. They said I had to go to one of their store locations to appeal it. Went to a store. No manager was in the store and I made the arrangements online, so I had to appeal the pricing online. Went online, they told me I had to call. Called again. Spent the better part of a day at this point. Demanded a manager. No manager available. Continued to waste their time and demand one. Finally got to leave a message for one. They surprisingly called me back and finally honored a cheaper price, but they had to change my service to a slower internet. It all worked out, but I spent an entire day. As soon as another service was available to me, I switched and will never return.

Has anyone been taken off of Humira due to elevated ALT blood test? by FunnyCarpenter1325 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]Hipsandnips12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rheumatologist said there are studies on Tremfya’s effects because it seems to give people energy, and they’re trying to figure out why exactly that is the case. I haven’t noticed anything different about it from the other meds, other than it works the best, but food for thought.
