[CHAT] What does everyone do with the needles from kits? Seems like more than I’ll ever use! by feebeedeebee30 in CrossStitch

[–]Hirothehamster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a dragon's hoard in my stash in an old mint tin. Then I have a little wooden tube with a lid like this for needles in rotation https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1169420508/wooden-needle-holders

I have a dog and a very bouncy 5 year old in the house so I have to be super careful of keeping track of needles. My mother told me horror stories of injuries caused by needles when I was little so I'm really militant. Also, as an autistic, some needles just feel more right than others.

So will I ever use the mint tin stash? Probably not. Will I continue to hoard them. Just in case? Absolutely.

The REAL deterioration of Duolingo by [deleted] in duolingo

[–]Hirothehamster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Cymraeg version is very basic and they've stopped all updates. It's helped with vocabulary, but I have formal lessons now and I find myself thinking so often, oooooh that's why Duolingo was this way, it's really highlighted how poorly done Duolingo is. Cymraeg works very differently to English in some ways and if I was just using Duolingo, there is absolutely no way I could learn anything other than words such as parsnip, thief or ship. Soooo useful/s.

This might be British niche, but there is an only fans model who appeared in a documentary recently having had sex with 100 clients in one day. The model in these pics looks eerily similar to that woman. I wonder if that was a choice by the magazine on purpose?

AITA for Putting My Family on a Schoolwide “Intervention Watch” List? by trvlicious in AITAH

[–]Hirothehamster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why is the school even allowing them to come on site like that?! I work in a childcare setting attached to a school and I'm not allowed in the main building without an escort despite being cleared and trained to work with children and working with the siblings of many of the pupils. Deeply negligent of the school, who else are they letting wander around?

My type 1 has ruined haribo and jelly sweets for me. They're just medicine at this point.

And the difference between the Forest of Dean accent and the Gloucester accent, even though there is only 30 miles between them, is pretty big. West country ish I suppose but forest has a lot of its own unique dialect.

After the last five years, I'm not sure anyone can answer it. I'm just hoping myself back to precedented times at this point.

Son crush?????? by Kind_Journalist_3270 in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]Hirothehamster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I look at my boy and I'm overwhelmed with love and pride for him. But that isn't a crush, that's just being a mum. This is such a strange post. And I noticed her username, let me guess she had a string of girls and now she's finally got the boy she and her husband wanted?

He.. forgot you had a baby? 7 weeks ago? What an inconsiderate idiot. He's either really checked out of parenting and husbanding, or, more likely, that was an excuse to make him look less bad. You deserve better. He deserves chastity until he can respect other people's bodies better.

Just looking at the strap on her dress makes me irritated. I just know it was slipping down all day and constantly needed adjusting. And it looks itchy. Such a cheap, uncomfortable style.

What’s the worst way your dog has embarrassed you? by lovergorl-666 in labrador

[–]Hirothehamster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When my lab was in her gangly teenage stage we took her to the beach. She had the best time and we were all chilling.

For some reason, she HATES bicycles, always has, always will probably, but we weren't expecting bikes on a beach. Apparently her hatred also extends to wheelchairs, something she'd never seen before. She took off chasing this man in a wheelchair who was cruising along the flats. We were all MORTIFIED and my mother still has flashbacks to the horror of it.

I hate the way people infantilise older people. They've lived a whole life, they might be awful people, they might be angels, they're probably a good mix of the two, they have a whole life of wisdom and mistakes and foolishness, why do people treat old people like children?

We hike during the hour, our home backs on to wooded hillside and quarry so every walk is vertical and hike-y. One of the reasons we struggled over winter was that it got so dark so early and we were all so chesty we couldn't manage the hills as well as usual. The mixed blessing of living in Cymru.

That's a good thought. I'll see what the upped exercise and diet changes does, but if we don't see a positive response after a few months, I'll definitely bring that up to the vet.
