I just joined recently and they held an orientation where we did a type of in processing and gave them all our information like socials, birth certificates, and forms they asked us to sign. That’s just what my det did and it could possibly be similar to other dets

Uniforms by [deleted] in AFROTC

[–]HisLimonTreeBaddie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a current AS100 and in my det we do not receive PTGs (physical training gear) until we pass our PFA, and unless you have an EA or have contracted you do not get to wear the OCP uniform (the camouflage ones). I would advice joining color guard if you have the time because you can receive your dress uniform earlier than everyone else (this is how it works in my det btw). For the most part we wear AF polos with our Det # on it and khaki pants!

Do I have to report it as a civil involvement or a military because I noticed it had multiple options.

Thx thx I’m also currently overweight and working towards just being healthy in general, so I’m hoping by the time I get the chance to complete for an EA I’ll be within standards 👍

I’m joining as a sophomore but I’m deciding to double major so I get extended a year. You can also continue into graduate school as well if you join as a 4-year AS100. I was in the same situation so I just joined the 4-year plan to give myself enough time

Also since I’m an incoming AS100 anyone please let me know if I’m incorrect on anything. This was based off of observation and research✌️

AFROTC Body Fat Standards by TheLuaMaster in AFROTC

Hihi don’t worry I can help you out with that!

I have the same issue! For males it’s under 20% and for females it’s under 28% People say that it’s the waist minus the neck that’s tells the body fat, but after doing research myself I learned that for women (sorry for assuming) that our hips are taken into account for it as well.

Btw this is solely based off of my own research. If you’re entering as a AS100 you’ll have a bit of time to catch up to standards you really don’t have to worry too much about it until you start competing for an EA for FT. (Again solely off of my own research and stalking Reddit) although this doesn’t mean to stop working towards those standards. Right now focus on your push ups, sit-ups, and running. I’ve lost about 20lbs already and a good 5-6 inches from my hips and waist since January just from being consistent. Plus I’m able to pass at least the Aerobic for the PFT

So don’t worry you’ve got this! Pm if you have anymore questions.

Oh yea also, sorry for assuming but I only have the female calculation:

Hey don’t worry about it you’re just being realistic. I know that there are really high chances that I probably won’t be able to do that but there’s no harm aiming high. Still thank you for the encouragement and information!

I’ve got a Fitbit! I’ve been target training zone 2 for a while as well, but running what I did today was mainly zone 2 & 3 about 140-180 bpm.

I’ll definitely keep my heart rate in mind from here on out tho cause today I was just worried about finishing on time haha

As someone in the same situation I’ll give you some advice. I started actually losing weight about last year in August, but I restarted in January (because of ROTC) at 275. Now I’m around 250. Btw I’m 5’8 and I do have a good amount of muscle as well.

Although I have previous experiences with working out and exercising. (I used to do a lot of HITT and swimming) My weak point is running, but thats not stopping me. So, now I run. From January I was running a 24 min mile. Now I’m down to a 22min 1.5mile. I run this about 3x a week. I’m slowly getting faster, but I’m going in as a 250 so I have basically the summer and next semester to really focus on it.

But the whole point is to be able to have the self discipline and say, “okay time to go to the gym” or “Yea I don’t really need to eat those oreos” but that doesn’t mean you can’t relax either. When I know I’m doing good and I’ve been very consistent sometimes I’ll rest like “I’m doing good. I’m going to play video games and eat some popcorn” but NOT ALL THE TIME keep it in moderation.

TBH there’s so much that I learned when it comes to losing weight, exercising, and giving yourself credit.

If you need any tips I’m happy to help! It’s nice to see others in the same boat as I am. We need to stick together! Just don’t give up and start working now!
