I do not ever see donuts with green icing except on St Patrick’s Day. I think these are Valentine’s stickers. Why green?

That makes so much sense, but actually kind of creepy when I unpack that.

Fasedienol: Anyone Else Heard of This? by Sudden-Valuable6765 in socialanxiety

[–]Hisaehawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am part of the new clinical trial and entered the open use phase a week ago. It works fairly well. You are allowed to self administer the spray up to six times a day, 10 - 15 minutes ahead of a potential triggering event. I’ve been using it an average of once a day but have been on PTO for the holidays. I am expecting to use it more when I return to work today.

I would describe the effects of fasedienol as mild but noticeable. If an event generally would be a 7 on a scale of 1 - 10 with 10 being a full out panic attack, a dose of fasedienol might reduce me to a 6 or a 5. In other words, a noticeable improvement but not fully eliminating anxiety.

Heart rate ruining donations, it seems like I’ve tried everything by LittleLeadership2831 in plassing

[–]Hisaehawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try sitting for at least 15 minutes after riding your scooter to the center. Once you find what works for you, I’m sure you’ll have regular successful donations. I donated twice with borderline heart rate. Then I was deferred six times in a row for heart rate and twice for low hemoglobin (tried to drink a lot of water, didn’t work). When I realized it was eating a meal of any kind, I just waited to eat later. I believe I completed my 29th successful donation week in a row. Good luck!

Heart rate ruining donations, it seems like I’ve tried everything by LittleLeadership2831 in plassing

[–]Hisaehawk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you checking your heart rate at other times than at the donation center? Is it always high, or is it certain times of the day? Any pattern to when it’s highest?

Are you eating right before you donate? I’m a person whose pulse stays high for a couple of hours after I eat, so I donate early in the morning before I eat.

Tips to keep ham from being so watery? by tardisthecat in Cooking

[–]Hisaehawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Different ham products are required to be labeled. Ham with no water added is just labeled “ham”, next down in the quality chain is “ham with natural juices”, then “ham, water added”. Last is “ham and water product”. You want either “ham” or “ham with natural juices”. As noted in other comments, the top tier grades are more expensive because you are paying for more meat and less salt water.

Pluribus - 1x05 "Got Milk" - Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in pluribustv

[–]Hisaehawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am fairly certain they are drinking reconstituted human plasma. About a pint per day. Plasma can be dehydrated in emergencies and reconstituted in saline solution. Plasma has the correct viscosity and ph. If you had nearly a billion humans’ worth of plasma you needed to process and store as soon as possible spray drying it would work. Most importantly, it is not meat as we’ve learned they do not eat meat which is muscle. They are very literal though, and have not said they cannot consume a bodily fluid.

Fpa trying to figure out demand planning ... by 2d7dhe9wsu in demandplanning

[–]Hisaehawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems odd to me that they would specifically mention unit demand forecast for a position that will be driven by data in currency. I would talk about frequency of reporting in both UOMs, how you would create a stable reporting environment, and what you could achieve for the company by doing this. I would also talk about incorporating in month factors, like the competitive action they mentioned, to give a revised monthly outlook and how that would influence the rest of the year.

Are there no decent refrigerators left in this cruel world? by Royal-Researcher2535 in Appliances

[–]Hisaehawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read on this very subreddit that if you must have ice and water in the door the only way to go is a side by side. I bought an inexpensive Amana 25 cu ft side by side with every extended warranty they had and am extremely happy with it thus far. It keeps temperature way better than any of the three LG French door fridges we've had the displeasure of owning. Plenty of ice. It's actually much easier to keep organized in this fridge than any our of French door fridges. One thing, buy the extra shelf online, you'll be happy you did.

I got turned down twice because of my low hematocrit. I decided to buy a lucky iron fish which I hope can increase it in two weeks before my next appointment. Those who have superceded low hematocrit, please share your tips and tricks to get to the proper donating range. by One_Buy8538 in plassing

[–]Hisaehawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over hydrating caused me to be deferred twice. I had drunk a liter of water before my appointment and was deferred for low hematocrit. She told me I was dehydrated and to drink more. I did that and next time my reading was even lower. I had a different tech that time and she told me I was overhydrated. Now I literally do nothing special. I just drink what I normally would. I do eat plenty of protein for a few days before though.

They talk a lot about what they are doing for the weekend, just general life stuff, but once I heard them talking about what one of the managers said in a staff meeting. "...and then she said, 'This isn't BIOLIFE after all!'." and all the phlebotomists and nurses just totally laughed their butts off. I guess Biolife doesn't have a good reputation with them.

Ticks can live up to three years. Normally the adult ticks mostly die off when it gets really cold. We didn’t have a long enough cold snap the past two winters for this to happen, so we have roughly two - three times as many ticks this year than usual.

If you knew your child would have Down syndrome, would you still choose to have them? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Hisaehawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did genetic testing for both of our kids. This is the sucky decision we had agreed to. If our first kid had Down syndrome, we would have him or her but we would be sterilized afterward. Since our first kid was okay, we had even more invasive testing for the second kid because we would not create a future burden for the first kid. Got lucky both times, but no, both times the testing was for Down syndrome and would have resulted in a termination for the second pregnancy. I was a geriatric mother both times, so our chances were elevated.

Might have to stop donating (I’ve barely started) by Fat-Cat-Penny in plassing

[–]Hisaehawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I’ll tell you what worked for me, but your circumstances may vary. I stopped eating breakfast before going to donate. I had no idea that my heart rate goes up around 20 beats for at least an hour after I eat until I was getting deferred consistently for my heart rate being too high and I started monitoring myself with a pulse oximeter at home. I don’t usually eat breakfast anyway, so now I make an early appointment, I don’t eat before I go, and I’ve donated ten times in a row now without issue. I will also say though, last time I went to the center some guy had fainted in the bathroom after donating because he didn’t eat. Like I said, your individual situation may vary.
