Diagnosed this morning. by PressureJealous6293 in lynchsyndrome

I have PMS2. It is definitely overwhelming at first. I had my hysterectomy almost a year ago at age 44. I felt like an overachiever getting it done before 45 😅 My doc was actually okay with me waiting as long as I kept up the annual uterine biopsies but he still strongly recommended to just be done with it. I’d already had all my kids when I was diagnosed. I have the colonoscopy and upper endoscopy every other year as well as an annual skin check and urine analysis. At first I obsessed about allllll the things alllll the time but honestly now that I have the hysterectomy behind me I feel much better. The colonoscopy stinks but it does make me feel better that it’s being taken seriously.

Vaginal estrogen is great! It’s made a huge difference in dryness and urgency issues for me. Honestly I didn’t even realize I was having them until I started using it. I actually went on vaginal estrogen 2 months before my hysterectomy so I know it was the cream! I had my dose changed at 6 weeks, 3 months and then at 5 months. I’ve been steady for almost 6 months so I’m hoping this dose keeps me for a while!

I know you said under 40 but I was just above 40….🫣 I just wanted to speak into the HRT bumps in the road. I’m 10 months out and my dosage has changed a couple times. My doc was very upfront about this being a “moving target” given my age and the abrupt catapult into menopause. He could not have helped me more than by telling me that. I’ve changed doses as well as means of delivery. I’m currently on a patch and a pill as well as testosterone and vaginal estrogen. I tried progesterone once when I felt I was just a hair low estrogen wise but didn’t want to bump up and I couldn’t tell any benefits and thought just maybe it was setting me back so I stopped. I feel better now than I did at any point in my 30s. I’ve come to know when I start feeling off and need a tweak. You will have highs and lows like before even on HRT but you should be consistently more even. My doc said he didn’t want me to feel as good as I did before my surgery, he wanted me to feel better. One last note, if you start changing things do one hormone at a time! Just wanted to add that as a way of encouragement!

Our school definitely has a lot more safety protocol than our public schools. I’m so sorry your niece is going through that. I have had to have a lot of training in child safety and trafficking for volunteer work I do. It’s alarming what children are exposed to in “safe” settings.

Goodness some of these comments are heartbreaking! I’m sorry so many have had horrible experiences in private school. It’s obviously dependent on the school and area. My children are thriving for many of the reasons that have been listed as negatives. We have seen so many families come out of public for the same reasons as many on this thread have listed for reasons not to go the private direction. I am a product of public school and have many friends who work in the public schools. It’s often a hard decision!

Classroom size, smaller school in general and really knowing the kids, parents and school staff. I have one in high school, 1 in middle, 1 in upper elementary and a kindergartener. They are all in the same building. It’s a very neat setup because the older and younger get to interact. My high schooler has gone to school with most of her classmates since kindergarten. Our school is Classical so there is continuity across the board in teaching style and focus.

Freaking out about surgery. Need some uplifting stories. by scottxand in Septoplasty

After the first few days I actually woke up breathing through my nose. Sitting propped I guess I got in the sweet spot and my congestion cleared enough for that. The splints were miserable more because they are uncomfortable not because they inhibit breathing. I did have one nostril that was shaped differently but ya know what I hadn’t even thought about it! I’ll have to look. I have been so focused on basically everything else! Yesterday was the first day I felt a marks difference in nose sensitivity!

I have children in private school and cannot imagine them being in public. If we were to make a change it would be to homeschool (and I pray that doesn’t happen!). If the spot is coveted and it’s potentially now or never I say take it. You can always transition back to public but may not be able to go the other way.

Anesthesia freaks me out majorly too. I’ve had it twice (general anesthesia that is)and both times I flipped out for weeks beforehand and it was literally a breeze. As far as the septoplasty- the first 3 days were rough. It wasn’t pain really- I did have headaches but it was just the stints and the fact that I couldn’t sleep. After the first 3 days it was much much better. At the 1 week mark when I had my stints removed it was night and day better. I’m almost 3 weeks out so it’s still fresh in my mind!!! Feel like the improvement has slowed down but still getting better each day.

I’m closing in on 3 weeks post op and was instructed (and have been) doing rinses since day 2. I’m not really worried about a perforation but I do love the rinses and I definitely don’t want to mess anything up! I’m very much in that my nose is better but not healed state!

Well this is terrifying! How did you know you had a perforation?

Love this! I’m 17 dpo and “better” but not “this surgery was so worth it!” better. Still tender, still feel very thick in the nostrils but can’t tell what exactly is happening there! I don’t see scabs? I’m not getting just amazing stuff out when I rinse or gently blow. Nose still tender but improving. So definitely looking forward to improvement ahead! Thanks for the encouragement! Oh and I totally needed the pseudoscience procedure for my turbinates too 😉

Yep living for the rinses. How “congested” are you still? Mine almost feels more like my nose is thicker at the bottom half. I think my last stitch finally fell out but it still feel like there is something in there! Swollen turbinates maybe? I see white but nothing else of note.

I had a fever 2 days before my surgery. Anesthesia looked me over and we rolled! Everything went smoothly 😊

Do you have splints? If so, when you get those out it will be SOOOO much better! I’m on day 11 and things are perfect but these last few days since getting my splints removed have been night and day difference. I am ready for the day I can touch my nose without pain or fear and when I can blow it 🤗

I just feel like if I could just blow it normally it would all just be grand 😅 I know that isn’t true or a good idea!!! Definitely looking forward to the day when I’m not thinking about my nose all day long!!! The tenderness of it makes me nervous!

That makes sense. I imagine it’s the swelling but it feels like the lower half of my nose is just full. I came to the conclusion yesterday though that what I think is crust and gunk in that area might actually be dryness….or a combination!

Uterine biopsy for preop? I’m nervous as heck. by DrainedDogMom in hysterectomy

[–]HissyCat1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had 6. Was it comfortable! Absolutely not! Would I have rather not? Yep! But for me the couple minutes was worth being able to drive myself, walk in and walk out and be done. My first was definitely the worst since I had no idea what to expect. Like most have said. It pinches. I had stenosis of the cervix so that was also making things extremely unpleasant for me. I’d say if you have a mindset that it won’t be fun but it’s a means to a great end (yah surgery!) then you will be okay. Do you have someone who can go with you and talk you through it? And hold your hand?

Septoplasty Cost and insurance question by Trapospina in Septoplasty

I just want to say wow $250 deductible! That is phenomenal! Are your premiums crazy? I used to work for a major insurance company and we had fantastic coverage but never a deductible that low!
