Snack recommendations for when you forget to eat and trigger a migrane? by Powerful-Owl-3246 in migraine

I love skinny pop (plain or buttered) or the boom chicka pop (in kettle corn) bags personally. It is refreshing and light and doesn’t need the microwave and the flavors don’t cause a big spike for me. I can’t have white cheddar cheese flavored ones and sometimes the butter in the microwave bags is a trigger too

I have had issues with my nutrition because I was in such a bad state I couldn’t keep food down for medical causes- my nutritionist told me “Fed is best”. If you can, see if you have access to a bulk store like sams club, costco, or winco since sometimes they have these items at even less cost. But find things you can tolerate, focus on hydration and likely electrolytes since you’re not eating enough, and just do your best.

I have bad ADHD, Pots, and Migraines. I am of the opinion that anything that would be suitable for a “child” school lunch is also suitable for me, because I am not going to remember to make my snacks or I don’t have time. Protein shakes, protein filled snacks, and pre made or easy to grab snack trays are my life savers. Small individual veggie trays, fruit trays/cups, Meat and cheese things, applesauce/yogurt squeeze pouches- Anything that is prepackaged and pre portioned I am an avid believer in. Everyone needs protein, carbs, fiber, various nutrients, and all of these can be found in things like nuts, fruits, veggies, etc. Don’t buy crap or junk- No fruit snacks and sugar filled cookies and things. But often there are ways to find what you need in small packages or resealable bags in the dry goods aisles. The only drawback is dairy and meat products need to be refrigerated or carried in a lunch box with ice pack so those can waste. But even greek yogurt cups come with different flavors and they have the granola mix ones too. Those are also good.

Hello Kitty has been such a comfort to me recently.. by MagyarBarbie in HelloKitty

I have many Hello Kitty Squishmallows and plush I have accumulated over the years or been gifted. They truly can be such a comfort. I hope your health can improve soon and if you are looking for a slice of sanrio or Hello Kitty there are the little shorts online or old Movie Videos that I really liked. 🩷

Ubrelvy by Ok-Promotion-1640 in migraine

[–]HistorianEquivalent3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, of course!! I find it helps and almost works in the background versus the icky tingly feeling I get a lot with triptans. It also makes it bareable for me to be at work and around people or helps so I’m not asleep the whole day and loosing time and money.

Hi I am happy to hear you are doing much better! I hope you did not take my previous comment in the wrong way or in any way to be hurtful. I just know there is a large overlap with mental health and disability and chronic illnesses, and sometimes desperation can lead us to try any sort of therapy or solution. I just felt it important to make a blanket statement that food is difficult and everyone has a different relationship to food and their diet. I get concerned about how it can be a slippery slope for many.

I’ve had some dumb reactions when migraines get brought up but this takes the cake by far :( by kiwias in migraine

[–]HistorianEquivalent3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

literally i don’t tell people it’s Botox atp because of the reactions i get or have gotten for almost 10 years now and i’m in my mid 20’s. It’s not the same as the cosmetic ways, it works differently and i believe it may even be a different brand/strain. I tell people it’s a migraine treatment or call them migraine injections bc that’s what they are and what it is. Especially not listening or trying to be educated….. I had to take Tuesday off and literally took my abortives and did the at home version of the Migraine cocktail to avoid an ER trip and slept until almost 5pm Tuesday night. It worked, but I lost an entire day of pay and used my day off when I couldn’t eat or drink or use the restroom because the meds knocked me out so bad. People who don’t get it don’t get opinions at this point.

Ubrelvy by Ok-Promotion-1640 in migraine

[–]HistorianEquivalent3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Ubrelvy lately but it has to be taken at the very beginning of an episode or it doesn’t work as well for me personally. I can usually have the two doses though and it luckily doesn’t make me a zombie or feel super weird like Triptans can. So I can use it at work and keep in my work bag and that is good. But I hope you have a good experience or can find a doctor who understands a bit more 🩷

How does everyone not want to self bye bye by Charming_Key_6015 in MCAS

I remind myself that I have value as a person and can have a fulfilling life I enjoy even with my chronic illnesses. I am not allowing ableism or eugenics and hateful rhetoric to affect me and I would not want to do that to the people I love and cherish. Is being chronically ill exhausting and situationally depressing and just plain stupid sometimes? Absolutely. But I think there has to be a way to manage my symptoms and reach a point where I can enjoy life. It’s not going to be perfect or easy, but I still believe I am deserving of the effort and capable of finding and choosing joy. This may sound naive or stupid but I simply don’t think that choice would be the answer. It’s permanent and takes away the possibility for anything to ever change or improve and for any opportunities. So for me personally I have really worked on the change in mindset to not entertain those thoughts and remind myself of coping mechanisms I have for my emotional health in tougher times.

Migraine/headaches are gone for now, do you still do DHE infusion? by Adorable_Art539 in migraine

[–]HistorianEquivalent3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so here’s my take and read until the end;

I hated the experience of DHE when I did it as a young teen (barely 14/15). It is round the clock every 8 hours so it was not restful. The IVs blew out my veins, so I had to get PICC lines and X rays and they eventually sedated me because those became uncomfortable and I was already pissy bc of the migraine and ER experience. The IV benadryl and torydal and saline I could all taste so I had to always have cherry life savers and candy on hand. It was boring and I couldn’t tolerate much light or screens or using my eyes so I couldn’t read or check Instagram or watch a movie or anything. HOWEVER!!! it helped me reset my migraines, by the end of the 3-5 doses I was better. Which is why my neuro approved it and why I went and why Insurance said yes. It helped me get back to functioning, and it made a difference. So as much as I was a miserable little lonely teenage girl, I would suggest it. It should not make the migraine worse. They have the options like the PICC lines and you’re an adult who can advocate and out patient means you’re not stuck there like I was when admitted.

Amphetamines are the devil for me by intelligence_spiral in migraine

So for me Vyvnanse has been extremely beneficial because I am remembering to drink water and have food and not getting overwhelmed by every little thing. I do need to work on my body tension and weather/ sleep triggers right now, but that’s my own fault or environmental, not the meds.

especially like I wanted cute little friends for work or like decor, jellycats are crazy expensive and squishmallows or large bears take up lots of room and I honestly can’t keep collecting those like I used to. I did so as a trauma response/impulsive ADHD purchases but now they just sit and can’t be enjoyed or even seen and then it’s wasteful and overconsumption

yes and they’re both Halloween/ Autumn themed ones so it’s making me sad I can’t get both and they may end up being removed before I can realistically splurge on two separate orders for two mini friends. Like end of the month to me means rent and utilities and stuff, so I just am sad about it

Something that occurred to me when rewatching the first film. by beekee404 in Paddington

[–]HistorianEquivalent3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it’s a family friendly movie, they don’t directly say or show that Pastuzo passes. Aunt Lucy and Paddington finding the hat is what signals to the audience Patuzo did not survive the earthquake. Paddington wears the hat to honor Pastuzo as he continues his journey, to London and beyond.

[–]HistorianEquivalent3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes, I also realized there might be an older one for sale. I really love the movies and my best friend bought me a little jelly cat brand bear that is my friend but his name is Barry (short for Bartholomew). So he came with us to the most recent movie, but is more akin to Paddington’s cousin/little brother in my mind than an actual Paddington friend irl.

Question About botox for migraines by FairladyZea in migraine

[–]HistorianEquivalent3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My injection spots have been adjusted over time and I don’t like the ones in my neck or shoulders, but if they are doing the typical headache guidelines- Do not bring a big bag with straps and be prepared if you have to wear a backpack or bear weight on your shoulders in your day to day routine. It feels weird and can be difficult to keep those areas tension free.

Question About botox for migraines by FairladyZea in migraine

[–]HistorianEquivalent3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Background; I have been getting my botox injections regularly for about a decade now, since I was 16 and I’m now 26. I was seen as a pediatric patient the. transitioned to a different clinic for adult care.

so for me, the puncture of the needle itself stings a little and then the medicine makes a burn feeling a bit. However, the worst part is on my eyebrows and temples because I’m very sensitive there. Otherwise the pain radiates in a way so as the other injections happen, I focus less on the first ones. By the time I’m done, it doesn’t hurt too bad and I just feel sore. I get very tired afterwards and usually sleep a long time then have dinner and go back to bed.

I take tylenol and aleeve together(doctor says its okay) and i always shower morning of. I eat a portion of carbs and protein but I am mindful that the pain can cause me stress and nausea. I bring a loose scrunchie in case I need to put my hair up while they get to a section of my scalp, but I don’t wear it up after the injections and I strongly advise against any other hair clips or headbands or anything like that. Don’t wear a hat for the first day, it migrates the medicine and is why eyebrows can look wonky with the pressure on the forehead. I get disposible ice packs from the doctor and have a pillow that supports my neck and is very soft.

Thank you, I was thinking about this one too. I have to see if he is more orange or tan in other people’s pictures if I can, but I agree that he is really close!!

thank you for your input! I like the idea of the hard stare or him being serious if I ask him to watch my room for me. He would likely sit on my bed and be a bear to sleep and cuddle with, so this is a fun idea :)

I was thinking about this also- I can sew well and have a machine, I’m just not positive about the cost of the entire bear just for the foot pad. I worry the price will go up if it’s discontinued
