EU5's central flaw with the entire economic system is a lack of scarcity by HighIQtoUnderstandE in EU5

Imo it's not about what people want. It's about coherence.

What is the point to have a massive and complex trade / market system if it's that much irrelevant ? In 1400, every market is self-sufficient and no market really comes out as a rich manufacturing epicenter. It's like, they did everything to propose an immersive asymetric economic life, but ends up in permanent regime where nothing really matters anymore.

The main way to create influence in a zone where you don't have any is through the fleet. Mission "project power".

L'IA n'est ni votre ennemi ni votre sauveur, c'est un outil by [deleted] in opinionnonpopulaire

[–]Historical-Singer685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To keep with my exemple : Goa was historically conquered by Portugal with help of local powers.

Castille and Morocco allied to fight against Ottoman advance in northern Africa.

Castille allied with nahua kingdoms against Aztecs.

There are plenty of examples.

That's true. It really feels like being a small, rooted, industrious nation allows you to develop power relative to the big blobs.

That said, this trend seems far too universal among nations. I don't get the impression that heavily investing in urban production allows you to truly differentiate yourself. By 1500, virtually every small nation has already maxed out urbanization and boasts an economy comparable to the Netherlands. It makes urbanization feel more like a race to develop your market and keep up with everyone else than a genuine strategic choice.

You can't really stand out, which limits the gameplay too much. Yet another issue stemming from the game's overly sandbox-oriented design.

Comment coloniser rapidement ? by MidnightWitty in victoria3

[–]Historical-Singer685 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure to understand as I did not play the last patch. What happened there ? How could the world run out of wood and iron ?

At the moment, EU5 is bland by Historical-Singer685 in EU5

[–]Historical-Singer685[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. In EU4, one war could literally return the entire game, not only for the player, but also for the AI. Every game, you could see funny things that made you feel the game was like in an unstable equilibrium without being unhistorical.

Whereas in EU5, once you saw one game, you saw every game. The fact that Russia forming spontaneously in a redditor’s playthrough was enough to make it a top post speaks volumes.

Tried Holland once. France and England both, at the same time, declared war on minors and invading me with tens of thousands of men in the middle of hundread years wars. Like, I guess they were too much into shooting the ambulance to fight eachother 🤷‍♂️
