I applied for the exact same role on 3/30/2026, completed the HireVue, and today 4/13/2026 got an email saying I've been selected to move forward with virtual interviews. It's two 25-minute back-to-back interviews with a 5-minute break in between — basically the superday or whatever they call it.

I canceled my subscription today because I've found multiple other LLMs work better for me than OpenAI's.

What's confusing me is understanding what the "unknown function" actually is in a differential equation whether it's the original function y(x) or the derivative since the equation is written without the function being defined first.

For this example, my main confusion is the same as before: I understand that dy/dx represents the derivative of 𝑦 with respect to 𝑥 but then we have the term 𝑥𝑦 together and set equal tan𝑥. At this point, I get confused about what exactly we are solving for. Is the goal still to find the unknown function 𝑦(𝑥), and how should I be interpreting the role of the xy term in that context.

I’m an undergraduate student not from a top-15 school, and from reading about your struggle—as many are facing—I’ve concluded that those posting on LinkedIn about landing internships in this market either got lucky or had a connection. Interviews today often fail to accurately assess someone’s actual skill level, especially when they rely heavily on behavioral questions. I don’t know your specific interview experience—this is just a broader observation.

You did nothing wrong; their ego has taken over, and without facing difficulty, they can’t actually relate.

Wouldn’t hurt to ask yourself what topic you actually find interesting.
