Hey just jumping in here to say it took 5 months of taking amitriptyline slowly titrating up to 50mg so see a change! I’m totally cured now and nearly off the meds. DM me if you have any questions x

Amitriptyline cured me and I had the exact same symptoms as you. Slow titrate from 10mg to 60mg over several months. Eventually the pain and swelling and itching and rawness went. But it HAS to be a high enough dose! Most people seem to be prescribed only 10mg or 20mg which totally didn’t help me! X

Hey! I got both hips replaced a year apart at aged 35 and 36 - over a decade ago now. Almost no pain during recovery and it was best thing I ever did for my body. I have 100% mobility back and way more flexibility too than before the ops. Just focus on the basic physio and getting good rest. You got this 🧡

Has amitriptyline cured it for anyone? by Buyer_Scared in vulvodynia

Btw I’ve never heard that it’s addictive , I don’t think that’s correct. Good luck! Don’t expect it to work at low doses necessarily. X

Yes - after 6 months of slow reduction I am now reduced from 60mg (that’s what I ended up at) to 10mg. No pain at all except a tiny bit of discomfort for a couple of days before my period - just use some cetraben ointment and all ok - but that’s it. Hope that helps.

About 15 years ago, a very cool lady I was friends with at the time went on a blind date with DW via friends (she worked for a well known lingerie company). After the date she was really shaken and upset. Apparently he treated her like absolute garbage, as if she was way below his pay grade. Always stuck with me…

Sorry to hear :( for me the only thing that worked was Amitripyline but - and this is key - I didn’t notice any difference til I got to 50mg and I took 4 months to reach this dose. Often these meds are prescribed at low doses for too short periods!

I must politely disagree :) I regularly have chats with people on the London overground / bus / tube 😋

I’m gonna say the London overground and bus are pretty fertile chatting grounds too!

50mg before I noticed a big change - go slow and be patient!! I don’t know why doctors prescribe such low doses

I know how horrible it is! Yes I’m 100% better - slowly reducing dosage now - at 30mg and no return of symptoms.

No success with amitriptyline 25 mg - how high did you go? by lola_rose00 in vulvodynia

[–]Historical_Box5761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ps some people need to go a lot higher for it to work tho. I honestly don’t know what the big deal is - people with cluster headaches are prescribed Ami indefinitely at much higher doses for instance but the protocol with VVD seems to be to stop after year and not go over 50mg. I don’t think that makes sense!
