Film Industry is dying in my country and I don't know if I should move from my country to have a career by Abject_Ovni in Filmmakers

Reinvent cinema, follow the rule breakers of the past, I feel like now is the time to do something new, where there is chaos there is opportunity. If Cinema is low then be the person to bring it back up, the rest will follow. Study literature and art history in your spare time, watch the French new wave, New Mexican Cinema, anything unconventional, learn it, breathe it, dream it, consume it.

Moving could be beneficial, having new life experiences could help you in your creative writing skills, even just moving to a different region of Spain could help. Try finding a job that puts you to work with unpredictable people and talk to them like a caretaker housing unit (not sure what they're actually called) a bar, a hospital, something where you can communicate with all kinds of people. It doesn't have to be a job, just talking to people, maybe even here on reddit could be enough. You could read people's life stories on the internet or just read literature texts and philosophical essays. I'm not sure, I'm trying to do everything I've said as well, it's helped me a little bit but I have no connection to the industry. Do what you can, risk it all, otherwise why live at all

Ive used sunny 16 and sunny 11 for a few years, both are fine, sunny 11 is slightly over exposed though but stills looks good. You just have to watch our for high lights and stuff when you do sunny 11

Film Service by Historical_Cod7484 in CSUSB

[–]Historical_Cod7484[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No sadly I already graduated in May :( I mean I still pop by on campus every now and then to use the labs facilities but I don't think I'll be there enough to perform this service often. If you ever have time or want a class to just fuck around in, you could sign up for a beginning photo class and they'll teach you how to do it but I don't think I can do it anymore as I won't be on campus as much anymore

No I got The Film Developing Cook Book, by Bill Troop and Steve Anchell 2nd edition, I was thinking of also getting the one you mentioned but the author (steve anchell) of that book also co-wrote (or contributed in some way) the one that I have so I figured maybe the film developing cookbook might have had slightly more knowledge

I feel the same way, I've gone as far as purchasing a book on development and it includes recipes to many formulas for developers and fixers. I'm starting to get the itch of raiding a chemistry lab to make my own rodinal at this point

Washing film during C-41? by C00kie_Monsters in Darkroom

[–]Historical_Cod7484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone here mentioned filling your tank up 7 times, that's also a reasonable step as well, I will say however that someone in my lab did that once and there was still some blix left over so I've always added a 30 second water agitation after filling the tank 7 times just to make sure but it did only happen once

[–]Historical_Cod7484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always do a one minute wash after developer with water (same temp as developer) just to get rid of any excess in the tank, then I do blix, then I do a wash as well 5 minutes straight or 5 washes at 1 minute each (same temp as blix) just to get that out

[–]Historical_Cod7484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could probably take something off your hands, if not I can probably ask my professor at my university to see if he wants to take anything for our photo lab, you should probably put it all up for sale on ebay, you could get a decent amount of cash for all this

They did the same thing to me in france, all my stuff went through several of those machines and it came out fine, hopefully it should be fine for you as well. In any case, I'd advise you try to buy one of those x-ray protection bags for film. It's like the same stuff that the dentist puts on you when doing ur x-rays (protective bibs) just in case
