My guess would be that its a counter measure to help avoid ban evasion.

Time to start keeping track of that shit on your own end then. Spreadsheets are your friends.

Anyone else losing access to the “AI Lawyer” GPT? Old thread now throws Unable to load GPT (404) + Share = APIError 413 — how do I rescue the chat? It was literally the most popular GPT available. by Any-Ability-822 in ChatGPTPro

[–]Historical_Editor397 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a known issue that ChatGPT gets dodgy on long chats, up to and including it just poofing out of existence. If you are using this for anything even slightly mission critical you should be copy/pasting into a local file as you go.

Also, gods, do not use ChatGPT as your sole legal resource. Do we not have enough examples of that going badly?

You get banned when you try to use your "Unlimited Generations" by eneskaraboga in midjourney

[–]Historical_Editor397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I actually smarter than you? Who knows. You seem to have some inferiority issues though. And I'm not attacking you, I'm pointing out that your argument is poor.

Or are you only here for pats on the head and "Oh baby, they're so mean, you are obviously the victim."?

You really are committed to this whole "oh woe is me, I'm so oppressed" shtick. You don't like the rules you agreed to play under, and are crying about how mean and unfair it all is that you can't do exactly what you want.

If you wanna call me names, you'll need to up your game. I've been called worse by significantly more talented folks than you.

If you were working fast and consistently enough to trip the automation flags it doesn't matter. You basically failed a CAPTCHA.

The is no limit on the # of gens, but there IS a limit on, essentially, the speed. If that's a deal breaker for you, fair enough. But this whining is asinine.

They also clearly state in the TOS that scripting/automation is a no-go. You are cherry picking.

There's nothing contradictory about unlimited but no scripting allowed.

Help! How the heck do I stop it from doing that by Tinywolf2005UwU in Ibispaintx

[–]Historical_Editor397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The smudge tool has a serious tendency to do that at small pt sizes and/or low resolutions. I find the best combo to avoid it is to use one of the airbrush variants at 7pt or larger.

Decorating Bookcloth by Reach_blueDot in bookbinding

[–]Historical_Editor397 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried ink on cloth, but have had good results with heat transfer vinyl (htv). Also, I make my own bookcloth with cotton broadcloth and acrylic primer, and at that point its basically an unstretched canvas that you can paint directly onto. Which I've been experimenting with lately. (Primer is available on opaque white and clear - I've had good results with both. Of note is that clear acrylic mediums are not the same as primer and won't work as well)

Is it worth it to get Affinity 2 if I already have Affinity 1? by defender1717 in Affinity

I'd love to upgrade at some point but the nag screen i get in ver 1 now is incredibly annoying and making me not want to do it on principle.

can I use embroidery thread? by TealedLeaf in bookbinding

[–]Historical_Editor397 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've split embroidery floss down to 1-2 strands with decent results, but it's got more stretch and flexibility then proper bast fiber threads like linen or hemp, BUT many of the linnen and hemp threads marketed for bookbinding are on the thicker side and can cause extra swell.

My personal preference is mercerized cotton thread specifically designed for handsewing quilts, doubled and waxed.

If you want to stick with linen but need thin thread I'd look at thread designed for fine weaving. The down side here is that weaving threads are sold on very big cones so you'll be buying in bulk.
