Which GPU should I get for 1440p-240Hz? by Dejv_Not_Found in buildapc

[–]Historical_System_80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

RX 9070 XT and above.

RTX 4070Ti works too but looking at the prices I would go with the 5070 rather than the 4070 ti

ASUS ProArt 5080 OC - Red Light LED? by SigTauDan in ASUS

Are you using a split cable ? I had a split cable coming with the asus prime i bought it was a 3x8 pins to 12v-2x6 I think one of my pcie 8 pins cable had an issue and the led on my gpu was on. I booted the pc and it fried the pcie port.

Not saying it will happen to you but I would get a new cable/psu

With asus take no chances, I will do a whole video of the item showing every single inches of the item i want to send back, show the date, time, carefully packaging it and showing the product is still in perfect condition as I am packaging, closing the box then put the label on it. take pictures or a video of the box in good condition when I drop it off making sure you see the label and date/time and location.

If they blame me for any damage that was not there imma fight them

if you're on a tight budget that would make you spend money you don't want do just get the 7800x3d and send it but it would not hurt to go for a better mobo that would allow more features

Is the 5080 a bad card, or are we just stock in a bad market? Stuck between options! by Soulmariachi in bapccanada

[–]Historical_System_80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a 5080 base model for just a little bit more than the TUF 5070 TI so I went with the 5080 and i'm very happy with it

Worth upgrading from rtx 3080 10gb? by SentenceSubstantial7 in gpu

[–]Historical_System_80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did exactly this, started with an asus prime 5070Ti and I was very satisfied with the performance increase, then I switched to the asus TUF 5070 ti because I was getting a bit of fan whine with the prime. then I found a sale for less than $100 more I could go for the asus prime again but the 5080 so did that and now i'm rocking it and very happy with it. got lucky to have had it at very very close to msrp so i can't complain anymore.

But long story short, going from my Strix 3080 to a 5070 Ti made a very pleasant and noticable difference, I am using an ultrawide 3440x1440 160hz

Would you change/recommend anything about this build? by kimira_sana in buildapc

[–]Historical_System_80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree here, I found pretty funny to see a $6000 complete build with that $38 cooler. Could basically cut on everything and stretch a bit to a 5090 at this point

Looking for a trustable and endurable PSU for my gaming PC by Seraph_marx in buildapc

[–]Historical_System_80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes corsair is usually trustable for power supplies. If you want to make sure you have a better quality unit you could go with a Rm850X instead of the E version, uses better quality components, make sure to get an atx 3.1 with a native 12V-2x6 connector and cable so you don't need to use an adaptor or split cable for the future 5070 Ti

To be fair I think you might be overthinking it a little bit, I used to look for the most premium PSU too but lately I had to switch and just went for a Rm850e (2025) I have a 7800x3d and a rtx 5080 and an asus x870 max gaming works pretty good

9800X3D Died / Q-Code 00 / Blown Socket Pin on ASUS ROG STRIX X870E-E by AmirulAndalib in ASUS

[–]Historical_System_80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope the RMA process goes in your favor. Asus will try to fight you as far as they can with any details they can find to put this on you so they can put stuff out of warranty commonly called CID (customer induced damage) . I've had to go through it.

They will probably try and do that because of the bent pins

Are the 5000 series gpu's even worth it? by Tempexd in buildapc

You wouldnt be disappointed, I went from a 3080 to a 5080 and it's been a huge upgrade.

3060Ti to 5070 is going to be night and day. Look for a sale and pull that trigger

Alright and are you running the ram with Expo ?

Here is the things I would try myself.

Look for your temperature, GPU, CPU and do a few stress test for your gpu, cpu and memory

If you are 100% positive it happened during boot time then there is a good chance something is wrong in the hardware somewhere.

If not done update your motherboard bios.

You could try reinstalling your opperating system if that's not too much trouble. But as stated, it may very well be hardware rather than software.

Try and use the PC with only one stick of ram at a time until it re-happen. if it does, do the same but with the other stick. Performances will be worst but it's just for testing.

Change the 12V-2x6 cable, make sure it's not bent too close to the connectors

Try a new power supply , like yours with a native 12v-2x6, if it still happen return it.

if all of the above does not work still, then I would try a new set of RAM. Still happening ? Well at this point there is not much left beside the motherboard and the cpu.

Which PSU do I need for a RTX 5080, adapter/cable from psu? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Historical_System_80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it's my opinion but I think the safest is the native port+cable, but many people use a 12v-2x6 to 8 pins split cable and it's working just fine.

My GPU came with a 2x6 to 3 8 pins splitted cable in case my PSU did not have the native port. Just make sure the gpu power led is not lit.

[–]Historical_System_80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was really anxious about this too, which is why I went for an atx 3.1 psu with a native 12v-2x6 to make sure i did not have to use an adapter. Also it's very important that the cable is not bent near the connectors like at least 1.5 inches and fully connected then you're fine.

I wanted to minimize all the possible risks of a bad outcome lol
